For all of you following my teaching drama with the covid generation this year: We found out a little while back that in Texas Greg Abbott is changing our Teaching Standards for social studies next year.
From what I understand, firstly, we will now no longer be teaching geography.
This is a huge problem because this year most of the kids could not tell the difference between cities, states, and countries. They seemed to think that Los Angeles was the state. They thought that Texas was bigger than Russia. They had no idea that Alaska and Hawaii were part of the United States among other atrocities.
We also will not be covering Native Americans or the trail of tears. I'm not sure what else is being erased or left out and I am honestly too scared to look into it just because of how depressing it is going to be.
I am really really afraid that in the coming years I will be forced to stop teaching the holocaust.
I am sitting here trying to figure out what tag this so it will get the most views but there are few words that can express my absolute disgust at this situation, or how appalling it is to have such few options in fighting it.

Gov. Greg Abbott said Texas hospitals have "abundant" capacity. Mayors from the state's largest cities asked Abbott for the authority to require face masks amid the spike in COVID-19 cases.
Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday compared Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke to Democrat Wendy Davis for his “cult-like” following and politics that he said will eventually lead to his loss in November.
“Listen, we’ve seen this show before,” said Abbott, speaking on Fox & Friends. “We saw it at my first race for governor four years ago when Wendy Davis was getting money and support from across the entire country, only to lose by 20 percentage points once it was revealed the positions that she really stood for. The same thing is happening for Beto O’Rourke.”
Abbott was also asked about O’Rourke’s 1998 drunken driving arrest, but he said he didn’t think it would matter much to voters, rather issues were more important. Abbott said O’Rourke supported “wealth redistribution” and “open borders” because of his stances on taxes and immigration.
“They don’t want the George Soros policies here in the state of Texas,” Abbott said, invoking a favorite target of conservatives, the Hungarian billionaire known for donating to liberal candidates and organizations in the U.S.
Abbott also brought up the fight over Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault. O’Rourke’s opponent, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, voted to advance Kavanaugh from the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday. O’Rourke opposes Kavanaugh’s nomination.
“We want to make sure, here in Texas, that people will be appointed to the United States Supreme Court who hew to the United States Constitution, as opposed to just making up the law,” Abbott said...
Soooo... does this mean that Beto O’Rourke is Jewish or just that he’s controlled by us Jews? I want to make sure I get the details of the antisemitic charge correct.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott this weekend signed Senate Bill 1107, allowing patients to access video telemedicine services throughout the state
BUT TELEMEDICINE AND ABORTION IS BAD THO RIGHT???

Hyporcrisy at it’s finest.
But they don’t care about hypocrisy.
