WASHINGTON — Nick Gioia was terminated from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in February amid efforts by President Donald Trump and tech mogul Elon Musk to downsize and cut costs across the federal government.

According to a source who was among those terminated and spoke on condition of anonymity, the majority of the non-profit’s staff received notices informing them of their dismissal.

"Everyone received a personal letter stating they were terminated as of March 28 and that health care coverage would end on March 31," the source shared, adding that employees would be compensated for their work through Friday, along with any accrued vacation pay.

If you're British you'll be aware of the scarring social cuts which have been rolled out over the past 4 years of Conservative administration. Politically it's no surprise that a representative democracy, which has a higher representative rate of the country's millionaires than it does the country's middle-through-lower classes, takes decisions into its own hands to remove funding from social programmes that generally benefit the weaker segments of society. Of course this comes in favour of supporting their post-industrialist Eton / Oxbridge friends through the biggest financial collapse since the American Depression. That of course is a digression which will be visited later! The Social welfare system is a benefit system fought for and won by the war generation. With a plethora of social reforms brought in by governments in the early 20th century, the Government and Crown were looking to protect and improve the standards of living for those at the bottom of the pile... the Working classes that carried an age of imperialism for the best part of 200 years previous. Of course these new 'Acts'; such as the pensionable age, NHS and the beginnings of a welfare state; weren't handed over quietly by benevolent masters. Our collective forebears fought and died for my National Health Service.

These welfare acts were brought into effect during politically tumultuous years and a time in which Britain was approaching financial ruin. The Empire was fading, costly wars had stripped the government of assets; yet still social decency prevailed.

The current administration would have us believe that 'cuts' are a necessary step to regain the country's economic mobility; that by taking from the future generations we will be able to create an economically viable present... which seems back to front to myself, yet I am no economist.The future contenders for regime control would have us believe that the current 'cost of living crisis' will be solved with further and deeper cuts to social welfare. We sit in a time of relative peace and economic stability compared to a past which had massive social, political and economic issues, yet we still find that all the 'leaders'; whom are clearly representative of the electorate are singing from the same hymn sheet; are looking to further ghettoise and subjugate the already downtrodden to appease the faltering bank balances of the hedge fund generation and baby boomers.
