#grading papers

So, I'm marking GCSE mock papers for my students. When you mark papers, you've got a few options:

1- Go completely random. Grab a paper, mark it, move on.

2- Go alphabetically. Nice and easy way to know how far you are through your workload.

3- Arrange in order of how much they've written

Now, number 3 is my personal favourite. I like to organise by most written to least written so that by the time I'm half way through the stack I've already read most of the writing.

It does have it's drawbacks though because while you're making work easier for yourself as marking progresses, it also looks like this:

Most Writing --------------------- Least Writing

Hope for the class ---------------- Abject despair

So, yeah, that's where I'm at today 😩
