𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲

Riaan wouldn't exactly say he was unhappy growing up. His dad cared enough. Mother clearly wasn't in the picture. They got on well, he did well enough, it was all just... Okay. Of course, he always felt weird. Watched. More comfortable in the dark and during the night, but he just brushed it off as him being him.

The first incident was overfamiliar shadows. Shadows that shouldn't exist where they were. The second was actually hearing things. Looking back, probably spirits, but he kinda just went with him being stressed from the start of uni. And then came the attack. Something hulking, and wrong, and he didn't even know where he was meant to go, or what he had to do.

Some small part of him accepted his demise. Thankfully, he was saved, acted on instinct. Anything within reach became a weapon and anything not within reach a potential asset. Some part of his mother's domain surging until he held it off long enough for some demigod to save him. Bring him to the isle.

Life there was... Different. He should've found it exhilarating, but with the domain of death and nightmares came a certain detachment. At least, in his case it did. With time he's gotten better at acting the part, but deep down he already feels like part of him died on the pathway to demigodhood, and he's terrified of following that feeling.
