Y/N Versus the Incompetent Sales Reps
Imagine being the best sales rep at the Buy More.
“Thank you for shopping at Buy More,” you recited politely, flashing a smile at the customer as they left with two bags in their hands. When you turned around, you were being stared at by several other employees from two checkout lanes away. “What?” You asked, looking down to see if you’d spilled something on your shirt.
“How does she do it?” Lester asked lowly, stroking his chin and pretending not to be spoken to. “What’s their secret?”
“I bet they’re weeds,” Jeff stated, slowly narrowing his eyes at you.
“Or, realistically,” you retorted, “I’m just better at selling things.”
“We’re all good at selling things! Better is having five more sales on us. You have fifteen and this contest started yesterday!” Morgan gestured at you emphatically, cross and jealous. You were looking forward to getting a free pizza, but you didn’t really care about the contest. You were going to do your job.
“Well, it probably helps that I don’t spend my shift playing stupid games in the break room.” You replied with a stern glare at Morgan. Then you added to Jeff, “And I don’t inappropriately leer at female customers.” Finally, to Anna, you said pointedly, “And I don’t hit on the men who come in to buy their appliances.” You shook your head. “Half of you don’t even work sales! All you need to do is be present, knowledgeable, and respectful, but most of you are missing that third thing and sometimes Jeff forgets to be sober. Honestly, Casey’s in second place and he started a couple months ago. Take notes.”
Morgan and Harry both took out their phones. Jeff picked up a pen that was in a cup for when customers needed to sign receipts and held up his other hand like he was going to take notes on himself.
Letting out a frustrated groan, you turned and walked away. This store was going to crash and burn.
