A town is nothing without its residents. (From left to right) Malcolm (Mac for short) Russo is a somewhat scatterbrained 32-year-old man with a child-like loyalty to those he cares about. He owns the small-town diner (Rosie's Place) and, because of his extroverted personality, he knows a thing or two about his customers. Felix Russo is a 23-year-old man and, unlike his older brother's warm demeanor, tends to be more closed off. As a ghost hunter, his approach to the paranormal is methodical, focusing on ghostly signs and physical evidence rather than the emotional connections that Dean Morrow tends to form. Sydney Jones is a 24-year-old woman with a deep passion in forensic science. Due to this admiration to the field, she works as an intern at the Grimford Police Department. Despite her connection to the ghostly world through her great-aunt Ruth (who will be talked about next post!), she remains blissfully unaware of the full extent of the supernatural events surrounding her. Detective Hugh Dunnit is a man in his late 40s to early 50s who is the quintessential hard-boiled homicide detective, embodying the cynicism and skepticism that comes with years of dealing with the worst of what the world has to offer. He is gruff and dismissive, especially when it comes to the paranormal, often writing it off as "mumbo jumbo".

The psychic gave the reporter a scoop—she saw the story coming a mile away Clair Voyance was once a household name, the precocious child star of “Clair-ity,” a 1970s television program that capitalized on her eerie intuition and unsettlingly accurate predictions. Decades later, she still wears the mystique like a second skin. Now in her forties, Clair is a real psychic—elegant, enigmatic, and deeply withdrawn from the spotlight that once adored her. She carries herself with an air of mystery, her aloofness giving her a somewhat unapproachable demeanor, though for good reason. Her past has left her guarded, perhaps jaded, but she still feels the pull of fate and responsibility. Clair is more attuned to the spirit world than she’d like to admit, and though she keeps her distance from most people, she holds a quiet respect for Dean and those like him (though she believes he has potential for more).

Justin Time is a paranormal journalist with the energy of a game show host and the stubbornness of a dog with a bone. He’s got a tendency to speak before he thinks and believes wholeheartedly in things most people laugh at—ghosts, cryptids, psychic powers, and ancient curses. Though his methods may be questionable—he has a habit of showing up uninvited and is incredibly nosy—his heart is always in the right place. He genuinely wants to uncover the mysteries of the unknown, not just for fame, but because he believes. In Dean, he sees a goldmine of stories, and in Clair, a living legend. He’s relentless, talkative, and occasionally foolish, but his earnestness gives him an unexpected charm.

He was a punk, she did ballet. Ruth Wyatt was a 20-year-old ghost who embodied the 1950s before her death by the means of an accidental electrocution. She is a kind-hearted young woman with an interest in the history of her town and the people that live in it. Although she may have an occasional social faux pas, her intentions are always good, and she often will go out of her way to help Dean in his endeavors. Her affections for the medium are genuine, though she is aware of the complications regarding the ghost-living barrier. Stanley Friedman was a 14-year-old boy who died in the 1990s due to accidentally tripping down the stairs. Despite dying young, Stanley retains a laid-back attitude and just wants to enjoy life--or the afterlife, in his case. Being a rebellious youth, he enjoys pulling an occasional prank, much to Dean's annoyance. He relishes the opportunity to be a smartass, but is fiercely loyal to Dean, serving as both the comic relief and a source of support if needed.

The man who can see ghosts.

Dean Morrow is a 22-year-old college student with an unusual calling—he helps ghosts move on. After a near-death experience as a child, he was left with the ability to see spirits, and though it’s a burden, he refuses to ignore those in need. While he has a strong moral compass, he isn't naive—years of witnessing the afterlife's darker side have made him wary. Compassionate yet reserved, he treats spirits not as echoes but as people with unfinished stories, giving them the dignity they were denied in life. Despite his insight into the afterlife, he’s still just a guy. He isn’t a detective, but when the dead seek justice, he refuses to turn away. I hope to talk more about the story of 'Grimford', but until then, here is a drawing of the main character himself. :)

"You're the bee's knees." When I first started to work on Grimford, I would often draw small scenes like this. I'm not sure what the context is behind this one (since it's a year old, lol), but I knew from the very beginning that Ruth was always this supportive role towards Dean. When things got rough, rest assured that she would be there to give him reassurance. Maybe in the future I'll redraw this with an actual background, lol.

I'm alive I swear! I've had a little break to transition into my new job position and between the training and new store set up I've not had as much time to work on the comic.

However I always still make time to draw no matter how little! Enjoy some wips I've done on my lunch breaks and down time!

A columnist, a jock, and a town founder walk into a bar... Alice Press was a 36 year-old-woman who died in the 1970s after taking her own life. Once a rising star in the literary scene, Alice was a chain-smoking columnist who would write atom punk stories in her free time. Sardonic and mildly ennui, she is haunted by the stories she never got to finish. She's the kind of woman who doesn't sugarcoat things, having no patience for melodrama. That being said, she acts like an older sister to Dean and the others, silently looking out for them. Bailey McCrory was a 22 year-old-man from the 1980s who had it all before a drunk driving incident took it all away. He lived for the roar of the crowd, the crack of a bat, and the high-fives handed out like candy at frat parties. He leaks confidence like gasoline--potent, flammable, and likely to explode when challenged, but underneath the swagger is a kid who wanted nothing more than to leave his mark. Elias Grimford, the founder of the town of Grimford himself, was a 43-year-old man who died after someone slipped poison into his drink in the 1890s. There is something romantic about Elias, whether it's the way his words are dipped in honey, or the softness in his eyes, with the way he talks of his wife. Even in death, he remains composed, though many believe him to be naive.
