                                   ・    ・                                                     ・    ・     BUT NOT REALLY THE END.   hello, friends! this is your admin wol speaking.  i wanted to come to you bearing some sad news, which is this: i’ll be shutting down this rendition of haedal for the time being.  honestly, i’ve been the only admin running the rp for the past three months due to irl issues that our current mod has to face, and it’s grown to be more of a burden than a joy.  at first, i was enjoying myself but as time went by, i started to carry a lot of unhappiness within me.  there were a lot of criticisms about the cast style and the slowness of the dashboard, which i tried to accept and speak on as best as i could.  i also admit that it was tough to see our members not get too involved in events, only posting the prompts as a means of activity instead of threads that could have occurred had there been plotting involved or even been continued from the prompts.  

it’s hard to watch a slow dashboard, even harder to watch when people go on a fairly forgiving hiatus (  to my knowledge  ) and then still don’t post when their hiatus expires until the next activity check is set to occur.  activity is really down, and although i admit it might be partially my fault for allowing a biweekly activity check for a slower paced rp, it’s gotten to the point where i wonder if haedal is dead more often than just wondering if it’s a slow day.  i’ve come to a point in my life where i recognize that when i’m more unhappy about an rp than i enjoy it, it’s time to let things go.  

this isn’t to say that haedal won’t be back in the future.  i do love historical rps, and it did really make me happy to create the political storyline for haedal which wasn’t as present when the original admins brought it to life due to their busy schedules.  i’m considering opening up a limited cast, invite only roleplay that follows in the steps of haedal’s current storyline.  the thing i liked most about running haedal was writing up storyline events, so i think this way it’ll be more of a joy to me in the long run.  it’ll also be easier for me to run alone!

                               …      ━━━    A NOTICE FROM THE ADMIN TEAM    ━━━      …

                                    ・    ・                                                      ・    ・     HELLO, EVERYONE!  this is an announcement that’s a little different from the rest.  i actually wanted to talk to you about something as both a member and an admin of the rp, so i hope you’ll take the time to listen to this announcement in particular since i believe it affects all of us!

a few weeks ago, a park sooyoung muse joined us by the name of JUNG DAHYE.  if you haven’t guessed it by now, it’s one of my very own muses - and one that i kept under wraps for a reason.  for the past two weeks, i’ve mainly focused on this muse as i had been approached by a few members of the community about how they’ve felt alienated or unwelcomed by the majority.  i’m the type of person that wants to run an rp that’s very welcoming and open to new members, so i decided to go undercover to see if i would be treated any differently when people didn’t know that i was actually an admin versus just a normal member coming into the rp for the first time.

there are quite a few things that i’m pleased about, as well as some things i believe we all can work on as members to make haedal a more open place for members who would love to join us in the future. ^^ please understand that i’m not calling anyone out in particular; these are just how i’ve experienced the rp through the eyes of someone who isn’t an admin.

first, i’ll start off with something that i believe we do well.  i’ve noticed that a lot of members will often see intros from new typists ( or returning members ) on the dash and like them to request to plot, more so if those introductions give some information about their muse.  it’s a good way to make someone feel welcomed to receive a lot of likes on their introduction posts, and i’m really happy about that! i think dahye got around twelve notes, and considering we’re a slower paced rp, that’s definitely something to be glad for.  i want to commend you all on this! 

there are also people who post starter calls on the dash to request something quick from members when they don’t really have much going for themselves.  this is a little worrisome to see if only because plotting is crucial in an rp like this, but i don’t believe it really has much to do with people outright shutting people out but rather being slow with plotting which is absolutely fine by me.  either way, starter calls get a few notes as well, so that definitely helps to make ends meet for activity.  just make sure that you’re getting back to your plotting without making anyone feel left out the minute you’re comfortable and in a good place to do so!

finally, something i believe we can all work on together is welcoming new muses.  by far, in comparison to the sizable masterlist we have, i think i only got a few actual welcomes from other members.  while i agree that liking the intros of new muses is important because it professes an interest in plotting with that character, i’ve always been of the sound mind that getting a message from a member in the community before i’ve had a chance to say anything myself is definitely helping me to feel more at home.  even if you’re just saying a simple welcome to haedal!, and then waiting on their intro to see if you’d be interested in plotting with the muse OR if they’d fit with the background of your own muse, i think it’d go a long way! 

hopefully you all understand where i’m coming from on this and don’t feel like i’m berating anyone, because that isn’t my intention at all! i’m actually fairly pleased with how we’re running currently; these are just some suggestions from things i’ve noticed that could make us seem more welcoming as a whole. ^^ thank you for taking the time to read this far!

lastly, i want to close with this: our current MOD SUNG is going on a hiatus from the main due to some personal issues in her real life that must be taken care of.  she’s still a part of the team and will be for the foreseeable future but things have gotten rough for her, so she has asked to take a break.  since the main has slowed down a bit recently, i don’t believe it’s necessary to take on anyone new to the team, so i’ll be running haedal alone for now until she manages to make her return.  if the day comes where i feel like i’ll need to take on a new mod to make ends meet, i will be sure to introduce someone to the team and to you all accordingly! please send your thoughts to mod sung in this time; she will definitely appreciate it ; w ;

                                    ・    ・                                                      ・    ・     THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT,  so please make sure you read it through its entirety! throughout the past few months that haedal has been running, we’ve been noticing that instead of plotting, members will use memes only as a way of passing activity checks.  our prompt lists are not supposed to be the sole way to interact amongst our members - we’re a plot based roleplay, and therefore, plotting is required.  prompts are meant to be a failsafe just in case you don’t get any replies, not meant to be your sole means of activity.  

that being said, we will be changing our activity rule to this: AT LEAST ONE of your activity replies must be a thread with someone else.  the other two can be solos or prompt replies of your choice, but this is a roleplay that is meant to engage plotting for activity and build relationships.  hopefully this will start to encourage more plotting and threads being placed on the dash rather than a consistent string of short meme replies.

this rule change will go into effect for our next activity check held on the 24th of february.

sorry if this will be inconveniencing anyone, but there will be no exceptions to this rule.  everyone should be aiming to have threads with other members, and hopefully now this will start to occur.  with the posting of this message, the rules page will be updated accordingly.  thank you for reading through this message until the end!

                                   ・    ・                                                     ・    ・     HELLO, EVERYONE!   just a short reminder that our current event ( the wedding of jinil and miyoung ) will end tonight at 11:59PM EST.  this means that our prompt list will no longer be available to reblog after this time.  you’re free to reply to any ask memes you’ve received after the day ends, but we ask that you don’t send off any new ones! 

but surprise! there’s a second part to this event that will last until the end of january! it’ll be our first plot drop event, and you can look for it to be posted tomorrow at 5PM EST.  get ready for some action, everyone!

hello, haedal members!  thank you so much for making our first week open a success! keep in mind that the event ( QUEEN MUNJEONG’S BIRTHDAY ) will end on DECEMBER 14TH.  your admin made a mistake on the prompts and said they could only be reblogged until december 7th because originally, the event was only supposed to go until then but you can continue reblogging all the way up until the end of the event.  please forgive this mistake!

next up on the list - our first activity check will happen next week at this time on sunday, and will be posted before any apps that we may receive.  this leads into the next point: after observing the dashboard this week and for other matters, we’ve decided to change a few rules to hopefully make things a bit more lively.  it shouldn’t affect what you’re doing too much hopefully; but please, feel free to message us with any questions or concerns that you may have! 

FIRST RULE CHANGE: ACTIVITY LEVELS.    originally, our rule stated that our activity check would happen once biweekly, and that you must have at least two posts in character during that time to meet that requirement.  we don’t want to change the biweekly check simply because we know that life can be hard sometimes and people can’t get a post in every week, but we do want a little bit more of a lively dashboard.  so therefore, we’re bumping up the replies from two, to three ic posts per check! they don’t need to be posted consecutively, or even on different days - whenever you have time during that biweekly period to post your three replies is fine.  there are over fifty muses here, and the dashboard theoretically should be moving far faster than what it has been.  we don’t think this should be too much to handle during a fourteen day period, so hopefully you agree! keep in mind that since we’re doing a biweekly check, when going through character blogs admins will only check characters who have been in the roleplay for a minimum of two weeks.  therefore, if you were only in the roleplay for a week at a time we conduct an activity check, you don’t have to worry about making all three replies until the next time it occurs.

SECOND RULE CHANGE: AMOUNT OF CHARACTERS.    i realized that as an admin, i don’t really mind how many characters that a mun picks up so long as they keep the level of activity listed in the above rule.  originally, the rule stated that you were only allotted three muses, the first two immediately and the third after a month ( or passing two activity checks worth ) without the need for hiatus.  the rule has since been changed to say that your third muse may come after passing your first activity check, but any following muse must wait a month of activity ( two activity checks worth ) without the need for hiatus on any character.  it will be expected that all of your muses follow the activity rule, and you as a typist should be able to gauge your own level of activity.  if you can’t pick up an extra muse due to irl time constraints, please wait until you’re more free!

although there’s not much to announce for the night, we did want to let you know that we’re now on twitter! if you’d like, you can follow us at haedalkrp for updates on events, reminders, and all sorts of important information! we’ll be following back everyone in the rp who follows us, and if you’d like a chance to speak to your mods in a more urgent sort of way since we’re not always on the main, you can do so through the twitter’s dms! ^^ 

also, we have a new look! not long ago, we mentioned that our previous gfx mod eun was stepping down from their post and kindly let us use they made until we created something new.  i ( admin wol ) said that i’d be working at it in the time that i had, and i’ve finally made good on that promise! i hope you all enjoy our new winter look ^^
