Here's the painted version of the previously posted sculpture that the super talented @gregaronowitz sculpted based on my Dr. Jackyll & Mr. Hyde drawing. Not only is Greg a madman at sculpting, he is also a madman with his painting details! I love the little touches like the broken beaker on the ground and the cobble stone street! It was nice to see this little guy come to life! Thanks Greg!!! Here is my newest piece, called Masquerade, all primed and ready for paint! I actually really like this step because it with all of the menagerie of miss-matched colors gone, it takes on a new life, about form and texture and composition. I can see what works and what doesn’t. I’ve actually gone in on some pieces at this stage and added or destroyed and revised portions of the sculpture to make it better. I’m happy with this sculpture though so I’m leaving it as it is and moving on to painting. This piece is slated for the #autumnapparitions show at @jkrgallery the show opens tomorrow night and runs through October! I’m really glad that I have been invited to participate in this show, it was fun and I figure out how I was going to make a work of art that is somewhat Halloween themed yet is not too kitschy.
