Renovated collection of Jane Austen's novels.

The original cover showed a photography of wild flowers, which reminded me of Austen's descriptions of the English landscapes, so I tried to keep the same aesthetic with the embroidery art on the new book cloth cover (I'm not an expert at embroidery: I know that it's not perfect but I tried my best!)

I love the bucolic feeling that the finished book gives, I find it to be peaceful and graceful and it makes me want to read all these incredible novels again and again. Do you agree?

Also, do you have a favourite Jane Austen's novel or TV adaptation? I personally loved the 2020 adaptation of Emma directed by the extremely talented @autumndewilde

I finished binding @somekindofseizure’s amazing When the Ink Dries!!

Honestly I love this (both the fic and the way the book turned out). I’m still having the trouble with getting the printer to get the margins right, and I should have made the greyboard for the spine about a millimetre wider, but other than that, it turned out pretty well.

Made myself a custom little notebook for reminders, passwords, etc. I can be a bit scatterbrained at times so having somewhere to gather and set info is great! Even just writing something down tends to make me remember it better!

Notebook is entirely handmade from cutting and folding all the signatures to making the covers and hand binding it! I love making books with the signatures exposed on the spine, it’s not something you get to see often!

Normally I’d use a specialty paper for the outside layer of the cover but I decided to just use some cute scrapbooking paper since it’s not something I’ll keep on a shelf but toss in a bag or my car now and again. Plus, I won’t be upset if it starts getting a little worn out, even better because with its own little imperfections I feel more easy just scribbling notes inside and not holding it up like a precious little book that I need to save for ‘only the good stuff’.

Aaaaaaand it’s done~!

Not my first time binding, by a long-shot, but definitely my first BOOK~

This is the fic “Rejoice, Because You’re Trying Your Best” by @jabletown​ and one of the best Pikelan fics I’ve ever read~

Still kind of experimental with the leather dying and embossing- I’m still getting and playing around with tools and materials (and ugh those end papers) but I’m super pleased with how they came out~~ (And I DO love the uneven edges..... Maybe something about Unfortunate Series of Events got me on that textured edge train but I dig em way too much)

Many thanks to @armoredsuperheavy​ and @renegadepublishing​ for the resources on formatting the actual text, and inspiring me to take the plunge with binding written word~
