Hanging Coffins at Sagada This was how the ancient tribal groups of this mountainous area in the Philippines bury their dead in the past. A local tour guide explained that some, particularly the older generation, still practice this tradition; hence, there seems to be newer coffins which weren’t there some years earlier. There may (?) also be other burial sites elsewhere, deeper in the mountains and caves similar to this site, although not as accessible.
