so a long time ago, there was a crossover between sleepy hollow and bones. and it was fine, it was whatever, but what always stuck with me was what it meant for both shows. not much changed for sleep hollow - abby and ichabod were still the two witnesses facing down the coming apocalypse, and most people continued to have no idea. but now that was also happening somewhere off-screen in bones, and suddenly these scientists aren't using logic and reason to prove the supernatural isn't real - it is, and now they're just ignoring the facts because they don't fit their beliefs. (ichabod's handwriting isn't identical to someone's from over 200 years ago because of genetics.)

anyway, that's one of the things i like about oscar. he's a reasonable, educated man who, when faced with the inexplicable, attempts to find a logical explanation and, when he can't, is willing to accept that there might not be one
