Lucas and Max healing together after the events of Season 4, him never leaving her hospital bedside once.

Both of them suffering from nightmares but being there to comfort each other, the two of them gradually getting closer and closer again until they can’t ignore their feelings anymore and Max allows herself to let him in.

Lucas being there to support Max as she continues to recover from her injuries, there to catch her whenever her legs give out at the skatepark or offering her a piggyback when her aching joints get too much to bear.

Max realising that Lucas isn’t like any other man in her life— he doesn’t let her down, doesn’t hurt her.. he just cares.

Phee always imagined that the first time Tech said "I love you" would go down in a blaze of fire and passion

She's already said it, once she got the go-ahead that it was alright. She was more than willing to wait, but she had always expected it to happen in a life-or-death situation, when there was no obvious way out, and she expected him to say it, then.

But that's not how it happens at all.

It's just the two of them, they're laying on the grass, a good distance away from the others, who are happily running around and messing. They're free from any debts they had with Cid, they're free from the Empire, they're adjusting.

Phee can't help but think all this calm is a bit borning, until Tech suddenly sits up beside her. She looks to him, watching him stare off into the horizon like something really important has just dawned on him. She asks what's wrong, thinking the worst after everything, when he turns to her, with the softest expression Phee's ever seen

And he says it. Blurts "I love you" like he's only just remembered the words

And Phee freezes up. No amount of missions, daring rescues, near death experiences have ever given such a surge of adrenaline before. Yet sitting beside Tech, who needs to stop looking at her with those soft eyes, has just caused her whole being to tingle.

Phee rushes forward to kiss him. Tech doesn't pull away.

The moment, Phee thinks, is horribly mundane, but she'll never know how Tech longed for a soft, quiet moment that he couldnt see being ruined to tell her.
