     hand halting midway between his mouth and his lunch, chopstick held rice ball hovering in place, aizawa comes to a complete halt in an already low energy activity. his gaze steadily drifts to look at his mentee, and he blinks with deliberate slowness and disbelief, above all else. after setting his meal down, he proceeds to clasp his hand over the students shoulder, and looks at him sincerely. “ i get it, we have a lot in common -- a bond, even. i see myself in you. but... don’t just say things. or, say them to someone else. ”

        it’s not pretty.        not in any sense of the word,  adjacent or antonymous   ---   that’s right.    even ugly wouldn’t touch this thing with a twenty - something - foot pole,  which,  in this case,  is actually entirely constructed out of literal disembodied feet,  just to drive the point home that even the world’s most disgusting,  most hideous twenty - something - foot pole made out of twenty - something actual feet wouldn’t touch what lies in kaminari’s hands with itself  (  or a second twenty - something - foot pole made out of twenty more real human feet.    the disembodied foot demand is off the charts in this tangent.  )

that said,  the creator of one such beast could not look any more pleased with himself,  albeit in much less a boy playing god smiting ants with a magnifying glass kind of way and more of a  ...   regrettably genuine,  painstakingly wholehearted,  God Love Him entertainment with the gift he now presents to the taller.

A smile blossomed on freckled features as bright green eyes caught a head of familiar purple hair in the crow passing by, without thinking he waved a hand at him, “Hi, Shinsou-kun!”

   “Ribbit.”

       Tsuyu looked at the other as she tilted her head. She remember him from the match with Deku. It was quite a match se remembered of. Though she didn’t understand why many thought his quirk was that of like a villain. Weren’t all quirks able to be used to be villains, just as much as a quirk could be used to be heroes as well.

   What was his name again? Shinsou-chan? Yes that had to be it. Though she was happy to see he was still around. He could be a hero if he kept pushing forward, that is how it had to be sometimes, sadly, but that is how the world seemed to work now a day didn’t it?

  “Hi Shinsou-chan. What are you doing here? Aizawa-sensei just left. I’m not sure where he goes after lunch, maybe a meeting. Was there something you need?”

   It was lunch time, though Tsu stayed behind to get her notes put away before heading out. She had been writing down extra papers for one of her classmates who was “sick” as they claimed to be. Not wanting them to slack, she decided to at least try and make sure they had the notes needed for their make-up work.

      “Oi, Sea Urchin.”  He pressed something cold into the nape of the other’s neck. “Got you something.”

     It’s a soda  --  a soda he shook at least 120 times before delivery.

     Soak your pants.

      .... you should never have agreed to let him ask about your quirk, and how he convinced Shinsou to even do so is a mystery...

        THERE IS,  IN FACT,  another pair of pants that he has been eyeballing since they’ve walked in —  but it could very well be too risky.  ❝  oi.  oi.  where are we in our relationship,  hitocchi?  is this allowed?  ❞

Every time he grabbed his notes or put on his work out gear, Tenya’s stomach dropped with equal parts nerves and excitement. With each passing day, the incoming reality of UA High School became more tangible. Entrance exams were practically on the horizon, and his preparation schedule was exactly on track- he’d reach his peak physical fitness achievable on his own about a week prior to exams, and his studying was on track to leave him a week of review for his weaker points. 

Anything he didn’t possess in natural talent and heroic genes, he happily made up for with persistence and discipline. 

Of course, he wasn’t a shoe in by any means- Tenya needed to fight for his right to be in the academy, and more importantly, in the Hero course. He would be remiss, however, in saying he hadn’t made himself quite the force to be reckoned with. 

Along with his own studies, though, he’d be nowhere without Shinsou. Studying with the right partner made all the difference, and all things considered they made a relentless duo. Tenya’s own smarts could be mostly attributed to relentless studying, but Shinsou was simply brilliant. It was a quality Tenya always admired, and certainly something that shone as they prepared for exams together, reviewing notes and techniques. 

The idea of traversing UA next to his best friend- becoming heroes side by side- made everything easier. Sure, new environments were certain to build character, but a touchpoint couldn’t hurt. Not to mention- they worked as such a well oiled machine now, he couldn’t imagine things any other way. 

Tenya was brought back to his thoughts with a flick to his ankle and a raised eyebrow from his companion. He blinked a few times before realizing he’d utterly spaced out. 

“Sorry- did you ask me something? I got distracted while reviewing the chapter.” A sheepish smile grazed his lips- the type of easy natural expression reserved for Shinsou, Tensei, and occasionally his mother.
