"high-functioning" autism is like driving a manual car. you can go as fast as an automatic, but it's arguably more work.
What I believe will happen each time I turn in an assignment.
when will higher functioning / less support needs / less disabled autistics realize that the difference between stims and tics isn't voluntary vs. not voluntary
this idea that you can control stims is bad. It (even if not on purpose) says that people who has self injury stims can just stop. we can't. I cant just wait to stim later. If i could just stop injuring myself by stimming, i would.
please stop spreading false information about stims.
the difference between stims and tics is that stims self soothes (even if it hurts you physically) while tics do not

"stereotypical" autistic people are valid
- if you love math or outer space or trains or anything like that then you're so cool and wonderful, your interests aren't boring
- if you have a learning disability or were labelled "low-functioning" I support you too
- autistics who will never be able to live on their own when you're an adult- you guys are not burdens or lazy. you just are getting the support you need to exist in a world that isn't meant for you and that's fine
- if you are 'visibly' autistic and can't pass as neurotypical and wish that people would say "you don't look autistic" to you, then your feelings are valid and your face and body and how you move are perfect how they are
- autistics who struggle with anger issues and have loud scary meltdowns are valid too and deserve respect and help
- to Autistics who have trouble with incontinence or need help using the bathroom, you are NOT gross. I promise that no true friend will ever judge you for that
- to autistics with little or no empathy who have a difficult time understanding other people's feelings, you are not inherently evil or mean
- etc ...
You guys are all good. You are not a useless or bad person, and are not "making bad stereotypes" by just existing as your self. As long as you always try to be kind and make the world a better place, even if it is in a very very small way like being nice to your friend and making them happy, then you are a good person.
