After living in the boonies on several tropical islands for the past few months I suddenly feel like a rag doll in culture shock flung across the Pacific Ocean to the concrete jungle of LA. It reminds me how desensitized we are to everyday noise and air pollution - I jumped in shock this morning to the sound of a garbage truck and people looked at me funny. I'm not judging "city vs country life," but I hope to inspire you to become more aware of everyday influences on our human bodies that I think effect us more then we know. When people arrive in Hawaii for an adventure they often say "I just had to get out of the city" or "nothing was really wrong with my life but by the end of the day I couldn't function." Life shouldn't be about "powering through" no matter how you feel. What really matters? How much stuff do you really need? Why are we all running this race to the top of a social and economic mountain and not taking some breaths along the way to take in the view. I'm guilty of it as well but this week is teaching me that if I can't sit back for a moment in the day and listen to the wind, or the song of a bird, or crash of a wave, then it's hard to hear my inner voice that guides my life. #hisarahlee 📸 @hisarahlee
