it was all very simple; the holmes family had been interfering with the whitlock’s business, and so jasper was to exploit their weak link in order to send them the message to back off. the weak link had been found to be sherlock holmes, the youngest holmes and heir to the family business, and all jasper had to do was get rid of them. he’d been following them in order to gain an idea of their daily activities, research to decide where best to kill them without anyone interrupting them, but jasper couldn’t help but admit the other left him... fascinated. perhaps it was simply their unapologetic way of being themselves, but there was a part of jasper that couldn’t help but wish things could have gone different.
but alas, things were as they were and jasper was the heir to his own family business. if he couldn’t take out an adversary, what kind of LEADER would he be? and so he found himself making his way into their room, because obviously, it was the place they were most vulnerable and alone. that was the reason jasper chose to believe at least. silently slipping into the room through the window, his eyes widened momentarily as he remained where he stood, gaze fixed on the sight of sherlock. hand reached down to grip the handle of the blade strapped underneath his jacket, a determination to do as he was required warring with the sudden need to forget it all and allow himself the luxury of pretending as though they weren’t from opposing families. instead of moving, he simply watched; it couldn’t hurt to allow sherlock to finish whatever it was they were working on before he killed them, of course. he was just being... considerate.
