Split the hamburger buns in half and spread a lot of butter inside each half while the burgers are cooking. On the grill or in a separate pan, toast the buns with butter until they are golden brown. While the burgers are still cooking, add a slice of cheese to each one. This will let the cheese melt. Put lettuce, tomato, onion, and any toppings you want on the bottom bun of your burgers to make it. Place the cooked burger patty on top, and then place the top bun on top of that.
