Today I want to discuss Jake Wheeler and Devon Lopez from #chuckythetvseries. Imagine trying to have a relationship with someone when Chucky wants to be your bestfriend, oh, and he wants to kill your boyfriend. I love everything about this relationship, the awkwardness of first love in a high school setting. Both characters are realistically played by #zacharyarthur and #bjorgvinarnarson. I highly recommend this series if you have not watched it. For my first #horrorsisterspride pick, you know I gotta go with My TOM. 💜Interview With a Vampire is a beautifully tragic love story. Lestat and Louis have a toxic relationship: Lestat loves Louis, but the feeling isn’t necessarily mutual. They adopt a daughter, Claudia, together and try to play house for a while, but both Louis and Claudia grow impatient. When Lestat realizes he’s losing control over the ones he loves, life becomes unhinged for all of them. While the film doesn’t totally hold up (it’s been 28 years), the book absolutely does. And while I know TOM has his detractors, even Anne Rice had to admit that he absolutely nailed the role of Lestat. Kirsten Dunst was an immediate success as Claudia and has been a household name ever since. Vampire tales are always ripe with homoeroticism, but in Interview With a Vampire, the queer themes are implicit, rather than explicit. Neil Jordan did a great job of adapting the book to film in a time when gay stories were just beginning to show up in mainstream media. 💜🧛🏼‍♂️🧛🏼‍♂️Fun fact: the film rights to the book (which was released in 1976) were sold before it was even published. REPOST @jadeastral Such an honor as always to join my Horrorsisters. This month we will be sharing some our favorite Gay characters in horror.  The couple from Candyman is my selection for #horrorsisterspride Troy Cartwright (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett)  the  brother of Brianna and his partner Grady (Kyle Kaminsky).  Even though Troy and Grady were not the main characters, they were the ones to get the party started!!! I was excited to see such a solid gay couple depicted in a horror movie that actually survived. (Spoiler Alert). Troy was our original storyteller in CANDYMAN. I don't know bout y'all, but my gay friends always have the best stories. I be so ready for the ☕.  Troy provided the artist with the muse and motivation to recreate CANDYMAN. In my opinion Troy did not get the credit and recognition that he deserved. Many individuals in the LGBTQ+ community provide us with so much inspiration, fashion, and dope art and still do not get the recognition as they should. Troy and Grady stole my heart.
