The Outsiders + House of Heroes
Listening to my favorite band House of Heroes reminds me of The Outsiders, so I thought I would try and match up a song to each character.
The Greasers: God Save the Foolish Kings from the album Suburba It’s about two gangs called the Lions and the Kings, who meet at night to have a rumble. It says in the song how the narrator’s girl worries about it, which reminds me of how Cherry hates fights. It also says how they fight because they’re lonely. The lyrics just scream greaser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0YQKGWFg04
Darry: Stay from the album Cold Hard Want It’s about a person feeling upset about another person leaving and wishing they could stay because it’s tough without them. There’s more in life that bad things, and if everyone stays together it will be all right. Even though the person (in this case Darry) and the other (Ponyboy) hurt each other and were separated, he needs the other more than he knows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFiut8GyNOY
Sodapop: Relentless from the album Suburba It’s about a guy who’s got a girl named Sandy, rides with his friend, bad neighbors, and he’s a bit of a rebel looking for a good time. It also says how they have faith even though things are rough and they’re poor. The narrator makes me think of Soda because he’s using life’s distractions to get through hard times and still have fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9fed--fmYw
Ponyboy: I Am a Symbol from the album Cold Hard Want It’s about someone who isn’t like the rest. The person stands out in that he sees the bad that has happened, and knows that everyone is vulnerable. But he knows if someone dies for the others, he’s dying for love. Pony is like the narrator of the song, telling the story of the greasers which will live on and give off a different perspective of people. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faHO0XIPSSA
Johnny: Hide from the album The Knock-Down Drag-Outs It’s about someone remembering the past and how it all ties to a person he knows, which could be like Johnny and his friends. The person is sick of hiding away and wants to make up for lost time, which could be like Johnny saving the children in the church instead of hiding from his parents. The narrator wants to change and be someone better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqqi_0inK5E
Dallas: Feel from the album Colors It’s about a guy who lives life his own way, getting power, making rules, and enjoying it. He’s a thug who leans toward violence and the bad side of town. Although he’s tough and has just about whatever he wants that makes him feel good, he still feels empty underneath it all and trapped. The narrator is much like Dallas in that he hides behind a tough facade to get what he wants to fill the emptiness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9AxMcqA-ks
Steve: Dance (Blow It All Away) from the album Cold Hard Want It’s about someone who has a lot of pent up energy and emotions, wanting to release them all in a crazy mix, much like Steve with his feelings toward the Socs and his friends. When it comes to what he wants, it’s all or nothing. He will fight alongside his friends with all that he has to accomplish their goal, like the rumble. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxXQwYI1A_A
Two-Bit: Sooner or Later from the album The End Is Not the End It’s about a person who tries to enjoy the good as much as possible in life before it’s gone. The narrator, like Two-Bit, is kind, hopes for good things, and takes life as it comes. He watches it all go by and decides to take chances whether they will have a good outcome or not, just because life needs to be lived to the fullest. And eventually, a bit of happiness does run out, like when Two-Bit lost Johnny and Dallas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGuZ3lnE8FU

No disco The End is not the End, por exemplo, o pano de fundo é a Segunda Guerra.
Manda ver.
