If you would like to see best of Montreal on foot, stay in heart of the town!
We were lucky that we decided to stay at Holiday Inn Montreal Centreville Downtown which is certainly one of the best located hotels in Montreal. The 240 roomed hotel offers the best of two worlds, western comfort with a touch of the Orient. We were told that the Asian themed hotel was owned by Chinese government and was renovated in 2015. The hotel is designed with geomancy principles (Feng Shui), and we loved the built-in pond with carps and fish in the lobby. The hotel also has a parking garage on site with in/out privileges.

We were looking for the ideal hotel in downtown Montreal and the Holiday Inn Montreal CentreVille Downtown was the best choice. The hotel is a landmark offering easy access to historic, cultural and shopping attractions in the city. We loved the hotel’s location which is next to Chinatown and 1 block from Old Montreal’s attractions and shops. Holiday Inn Montreal CentreVille Downtown is across the street from the Palais des Congress-Convention Centre and Place d’Armes subway station, nearby businesses and 20 minutes from the airport. The hotel is walking distance from the waterfront and the famous Notre Dame Basillica right across the street.

Our check-in was handled very nicely by the Front Desk associates. The reception staff took time to explain us about the area, places to visit while staying in Montreal. We also met Louis –Philippe Lajoie, the hotel’s Director of Sales & Marketing who explained us about the facilities of the hotels and the areas nearby. He also gave us insights about the hotel’s history and background. The Restaurant staff was also very friendly and took very good care of us.
Rooms:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8
The room offered to us was renovated, “smoke free” and large enough to accommodate 2 queen beds. Since we were a group of 3 adults and 2 kids, we were offered one extra cot in our room. We feel the room was small with an extra bed and we should have booked a suite for ourselves which has over 850-sq ft of gracious living with separate bedroom and living rooms, two bathrooms and upscale amenities.
The amenities in our room included a work desk with chair, Coffee maker, Flat screen TV and Ironing facilities. We loved free high speed Wi-Fi access. There is usually no fridge in the room, but the hotel was kind enough to give us one upon request.
F&B Facilities:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):-7
The Restaurant Chez Chine and Bar offers the finest authentic Chinese cuisine in Montreal. The seating is under the pagoda in the Chinese garden surrounded by the miniature pond, or in the private dining rooms. We did not get a chance to try the restaurant for meals except Buffet Breakfast which is also served in Restaurant Chez Chine. The breakfast buffet menu was basic and could be revamped as it is not normally included with the room cost for everyone.
The hotel has 16 meeting rooms, 10 with natural light and free high speed wireless internet.
Spa/Pool:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8
There is a smaller heated indoor pool and a whirlpool in the hotel (which we did not have a chance to use). The pool looked clean with guests enjoying the facilities. There is a complimentary Fitness Center with Rower, Stair Stepper, Treadmill, Elliptical Machines, Free Weights and Stationary Bicycle.
Activities:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8
The hotel is a short walk to Notre Dame Basillica and Old Montreal. We could also head down to the river for some great family entertainment and restaurants. The hotel is very centrally located between the old Montreal and downtown Montreal providing the best of both experiences.
There is so much to see in old Montreal including Notre-Dame Basilica and Place Jacques-Cartier, Old Port, La Ronde Six Flags Amusement Park, Mount-Royal Park, St. Joseph’s Shrine, Saint-Laurent Blvd, Olympic Park including Stadium, Planetarium, Biodome, Insectarium and world reknown Botanical Gardens, Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal Casino, Latin Quarters, Underground City and Palais Des Congress (Convention Center).
Also, shopping on St. Catherine’s Street and walking on the cobblestoned streets of Old Montreal leading to Place Jacques Cartier where local arts and crafts abound.

Hotel Review by Hozpitality:- Holiday Inn Montreal Centreville Downtown, Canada If you would like to see best of Montreal on foot, stay in heart of the town!
After a very busy month at work, we decided to head on a trip to Montreal and Quebec. Since we were driving from Toronto and stopped over at Kingston to visit the land of Thousand Islands, we decided to take a break in Ottawa and visit the capital city of Canada. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East who welcomed us with open arms, they made us feel that we were at home. Right from our check-in which was handled so well by Heather and Arnold at the reception, we loved every bit of our stay at this wonderful full service Holiday Inn hotel in Ottawa. When in Ottawa, Holiday Inn Ottawa East is certainly a must visit!
Location:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8
Holiday Inn Ottawa East is located just minutes from downtown Ottawa, Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, Ottawa’s various award winning national museums, Byward Market and the Casino du Lac Leamy. Since the hotel is conveniently located off St. Laurent Boulevard at the Queensway Highway 417, it is a very easy access when visiting downtown Ottawa. So if you are looking for a comfortable hotel which is not very pricey and yet close to the Ottawa downtown, Holiday Inn Ottawa East is certainly the place to be in.
Service/Staff:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8
What we loved about the hotel most is the friendliness of the staff. They were happy in their work and it shows in their guest dealings. They were eager to help us and to make us comfortable at all times.
Right from check in which was handled so well by Heather and Arnold at the reception to our room service or the restaurant staff, everyone was very professional and showed true Canadian hospitality.
The reception staff took time to explain us about the area, places to visit and even printed maps and details for our references.
We had an opportunity to meet the General Manager Jean-Pierre Benjamin who took pride in his work and was even seen serving coffee to guests.
We also met Chef Reza the oldest working Chef at the hotel for over 30 years and now has a restaurant in the hotel named after him.
Rooms:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):- 9
Since we were 3 adults and 2 kids, we were offered a junior suite. The suite was newly renovated, “smoke free” designed with a taste and style to make us feel right at home.
Our one-Bedroom Suites featured a separate living room and bedroom with 2 queen beds. The upgraded amenities included, a cozy bathrobe, lounge chair, mini fridge and work desk with chair. We absolutely loved free high speed Wi-Fi access. Both rooms have individually controlled A/C thermostats.
There is usually no microwave in the room, but the hotel was kind enough to give us one upon request.
F&B Facilities:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):-8
We came to know that the only restaurant in the hotel got its name from Chef Reza, the oldest chef still working with the company. We met Chef Reza at work who has been working in the hotel for over 30 years. The initiative speaks very highly about the company and its vision.
The restaurant, Reza’s Kitchen offers a great tasting menu that caters to the varied tastes of its customers. From their delicious gourmet stuffed hamburgers to pastas, right through to our decadent assortment of desserts, the entire menu is a signature item.
The restaurant served Ala-Carte breakfast and gets very busy during breakfast which in turn causes the service to be a bit slow. Though the staff made every effort to serve as quickly as possible with a smile but a breakfast buffet would be a good idea to make things move faster in the restaurant.
The hotel also offers 8 meeting rooms in various sizes for business travelers and corporations.
Spa/Pool:-
Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8
There is a smaller indoor pool in the hotel (which we did not have a chance to use). The pool looked clean with guests enjoying the facilities. There is a complimentary Fitness Center with universal machine, Treadmill Rowing Machine, free weights, bikes, TV and Floor mats.

Our ratings (Out of 10):- 8
Located with direct access to Highway 417, the hotel puts guest’s minutes from the Ray Chabot Grant Thornton Baseball Stadium, the St. Laurent Shopping Centre, Via Rail Station and Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier International Airport.
The Holiday Inn Ottawa East is just steps away from fantastic shopping at St. Laurent Shopping Mall and a quick drive to Place d’Orleans.

And this time we decided to visit the Pan Asian restaurant, Toshi at Grand Millennium Dubai and our experience was a very interesting one.
We met the restaurant manager Petra and we were seated at a small and cozy table by the window, with a grand view of Sheikh Zayed Road. Petra introduced us to their generous daily eat and drink, all-in theme nights and we decided to go in for the 7 Asian theme night buffet which looked awesome.
Toshi is for sure one of the classiest joints in Tecom with dim but decent lighting, soft music and a calm fountain that helps to create a Zen-like atmosphere. A great experience right from entering the lavish hotel lobby to nice interiors and a sophisticated setting on the 18th floor of the Jumeirah sprawl, Toshi is one place to be in while in Dubai. We felt that the restaurant is more suited to a business meeting and sophisticated formal dinner.
The variety was colossal, Toshi had specialty dishes from China, Singapore, Myanmar, Indonesian, Japanese, Vietnam & Thailand including Cold & Hot Appetizers, Salads, Soup, Noodle & Hot Dishes. It was an impressive layout of sushi and sashimi. The chefs prepare sushi in a viewable area for diners’ entertainment and the highly knowledgeable staff can offer recommendations.
I made my selection from the assortment of raw vegetables, meat, squids, salmon, chicken laid out in front of me and watched in hunger-driven awe as the chef cooked up my soup. The Tom Yam he made for me was excellent – very spicy and fantastically flavored, delicious enough to have us going back for more.
I normally can’t stand buffets but this one looked good and well spread out. The design is beautiful and the buffet is spread out on a long line going through many rooms. The buffet was divided into sushi/sashimi/maki, salads including crab salad, crispy fish salad, squid salad and so on, tempura/grills, soups/crackers etc. Mains came off a menu of selected dishes including Nasi Goreng, sweet & sour fish, wok fried chicken, beef rendang, shrimps and other vegetables. The sushi was delicious. There are tempuras and fried goodness as well. An exhaustive list of food and you can go on eating to your heart’s desire.
And obviously, don’t forget the desserts. No matter how full you might be, everyone must try the Pisang Goreng – deep-fried banana and the palm seeds in syrup. The innovative ice cream is strangely delicious and fresh and the deep fried banana tastes heavenly. There is a variety of mousses, cakes, custard and other desert items.
Verdict Toshi’s interior looks amazing and comes with spectacular panoramic views across the city skyline. So if you’re looking for a relaxing yet sophisticated way to spend your evenings, Toshi is the place to be.
