im a v closeted transmasc enby living in a pretty transphobic country. My dysphorias been unbearable lately so I finally tried to test the waters with my mom, casually brought up trans people in a conversation, and, as expected, shes transphobic. I feel awful now that i 100% know that nothing is going to get better anytime soon, I havent really done anything ever since then (i cant push myself to), I have no appetite, no motivation, i just cry. i dont know how to handle life anymore. tips?
Welcome, wonderful friend!
Even in a transphobic country, trans people exist. Who are the activists at the forefront of pushing for education and acceptance? Even this - who are trans people with your same ethnicity living in other countries?
You’re not alone. You’re not the only one going through this. You don’t have to get involved with those pushing and advocating for change - but just be aware of them. it can help to know someone understands. Someone knows what you’re going through. You’re not alone, and people are out there who support you and know what it’s like and want it to be better for you.
Hold onto that as a lifeline.
And if you need, look into moving to a country where things are slightly safer. A student visa? A work visa? Is there a way for you to get in? What will you need to do so? Break it down and find the starting steps to start working on moving elsewhere.
Find the small things that make you happy. A media series that you want to know the end of. Taking care of your cat or dog. Being able to watch the sunrise/sunset. Don’t forget there’s a whole lot of little things that make up a big picture. Find those little things and use them to help you keep going.
What’s most important is you. You getting to keep going, keep living, being able to feel hopeful.
Because you are important. You’re valid and wonderful and important.
Do what you need to survive. Dream of a better future and chase after that.
[here’s where I’d insert a gif of a HUGE cuddley hug between cutie patootie animals to symbolize the hug I wanna give you if my internet weren’t so shoddy rn]
