Happy Human Rights Day!!! "Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home -- so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. [...] Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere. Without concerted citizen action to uphold them close to home, we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world."- Eleanor Roosevelt This year was the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and as such the UN HRC has spent the year working on energizing young people around the world to remember that they are the future and what they believe in from climate change, to anti-bullying, to striving towards the end of child brides everywhere, to demanding access to democracy and forcing political change, to demanding fair wages for all. We have the power and the numbers to bring about real change around the globe. I am proud to recognize human rights day because as Eleanor said if we don't promote, demand, and take the rights we're born with close to home then how can we expect society to recognize them. Remember finally that taking the rights from one is taking the rights from everyone. #standup4humanrights #humanrightsmatter #humanrightsareuniversal #unitednations #freehongkong #womensupportingwomen #riseup #thefutureisnow https://www.instagram.com/p/B55VpLag0bj/?igshid=gyqpwn3mx5cl
