127 Scootcar Mk.1 (1963) AJB 434 A by Robert Knight Via Flickr: Scootacar Mk.I (1957-65) Engine 197cc single cylinder, two stroke Villiers 9E Production approx 1000 (all models) Registration Number AJB 434 A (Berkshire) SCOOTACAR ALBUM www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/albums/72157671427182935 Scootacar was a British three-wheeled microcar built in Hunslet, Leeds by Scootacar's Ltd a division of the railway locomotive builder, the Hunslet Engine Company between 1957 and 1964.. The designer Henry Brown is said to have sat on a Villiers engine and have an assistant draw an outline around him. The body appeared disproportionately high, measuring 60 inches on a car just 87 inches long and 52 inches wide, and was designed to carry two people, the passenger being seated behind the driver. Power on the Mark 1 came from a 197cc Villiers 9E 197 cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine coupled to a four-speed motorcycle-type gearbox and chain drive to the single rear wheel. Steering was by handlebars. The car had independent front suspension using coil springs, and the wheels were 8 in with an external spare. In 1960 came the De Luxe or Mark 2, was added with a redesigned body and space (just) for three occupants, but they came to late in the Microcar era to sell well. n 1961 the De Luxe Twin Mark 3 cars appeared fitted with a 324cc Villiers 3T twin, giving a top speed of 68 mph Production stopped in 1964 after a total of about 1000 Scootacars were made, but only about 20–30 had the larger engine. Stow Maries is a little quarry Hunslet with a BIG attitude. This turd thinks he's all that and more. He was named for the last surviving Great War aerodrome of the same name, Stow Maries, which sits just off the English coast in Essex. He's gained a great fascination with World War One aircraft over the years and wants desperately to one day visit this special place he's named for. He knows absolutely nothing about World War One outside of his aeroplanes, and does not understand what folks like Schatzchen had to go through in the trenches. Stow is a dreamer and incredibly shallow. All he ever thinks about is himself. Speaking of Schatzchen- they just so happen to become railmates in present day. They live on the Dovedale Light Railway just outside of Ipswich. As you might guess they don't get along very well. Schatzi cannot stand Stow's ignorance, and Stow is not *willing* to understand the sad, pathetic, old German who's trying to open his eyes.
EVERYONE SHUT UP
this is a King George post rebuild appreciation post :)

Two narrow gauge engines on the Launceston Steam Railway in Cornwall. Covertcoat is a Hunslet 0-40 saddle tank built in 1898 and worked at the Dinorwic Quarry in North Wales. Originally built without cab and tender, these were added during preservation at Launceston to make the locomotive more comfortable to drive. Lilian is also a Hunslet built engine from 1883 but worked at the Penrhyn Quarry. My picture was taken prior to a tender being built at Launceston in 2008. The line is not particularly long but has beautiful scenery and is built on the old Great Western line.
