LoZ Whumptober/Nanowrimo (as I failed to complete it in October), prompts 1 - 15:

Sands of Time Ganlink 1/3 - "Calling to You (My Safety Net)" “But now this room is spinning while I’m trying just to fill in all the gaps.” Safety Net | Swooning In which the call of Link's new home proves stronger than common sense or years of experience. Mistakes are made.

Revalink One-Shot - "Almost a Memory" “I’ll call out your name, but you won’t call back.” Delirium | “They don’t care about you.” Link wasn't sure what the Hero from a hundred years ago would have done, but he was confident that he could have dodged that arrow.

Malon/Link Gen/Pre-Relationship One-Shot - "In the Cold Light of the Moon" “Like crying out in empty rooms; with no-one there except the moon.” “Make it stop.” After Termina, nothing fits quite like it should and Time marches on even as Link wishes it wouldn't.

BotW Gen 1/2 - "Riding the Lightning" “I see the danger, It’s written there in your eyes.” Cattle Prod | Shock | “You in there?” The Yiga were either very lucky or were competent for a change. It didn't matter. Either way, Link was about to have a bad day.

Hyrule Warriors Gen 1/2 - "So Far to Fall" “You better pray I don’t get up this time around.” Debris | Pinned Down | “It’s broken.” When the small child with the Spirit of the Hero entered the battlefield, Link had no plans on getting attached to the feral brat. He swore to protect him, to keep him safe, but that was supposed to be the end of it. Now trapped and wounded with the young hero crying in front of him, Link realized far too late that he had failed.

Revalink One-Shot - "See You Later" “Do or die, you’ll never make me; Because the world will never take my heart.” “It should have been me.” Tomorrow, Link would finally face the Calamity. He feared that tomorrow would spell the end of many things, not just that nightmare. An unexpected source provided reassurance. If Link had learned nothing else since awakening in the Shrine of Resurrection, it should have been that death wasn't the end.

Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors Gen - "That Old Familiar Sting" “I paced around for hours on empty; I jumped at the slightest of sounds.” Alleyway | “Can you hear me?” In an alleyway in Castle Town, with Sprite and a handful of burning corpses as his witnesses, Link faces his failures once again.

Sands of Time Prequel - "Airless" “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier.” “It’s all for nothing.” Immediate SoT Prequel: Before Link awoke in the desert, it was just him, Epona, and a terrible decision to make in a cold cave.

Hyrule Warriors Gen 1/2 - "Can't Rain All the Time" “Learning everything ain’t what it seems, that’s the thing about these days.” “You’re a liar.” Hyrule Warriors Gen 2/2 - "Can't Rain All the Time" “Can’t you see that you’re lost without me?” “You said you’d never leave.” The war was over. It was time for everyone to return to their original time. Whether they wanted to or not.

Hyrule Warriors NC Cia/Link 2/2 - "A Song of Love and War" “All the lights going dark and my hope’s destroyed.” Captivity | “No one will find you.” Link thought he knew what to expect of Cia: what she wanted of him and what would happen if he was captured. He was so very wrong. (Second chapter = Whumptober Prompt) Cia and Link meet again: this time, on the battlefield.

BotW Gen One-Shot - "Deep Silent Complete" “I haven’t slept in days but who’s counting?” Insomnia | “I’m up, I’m up.” Link was no longer sure what were nightmares and what were memories, but at least he wasn't alone... even if he couldn't figure out what exactly his lupine friend was.

Hyrule Warriors Gen 1/2 - "Just Hold On" “Feed me poison, fill me ‘till I drown.” Water Inhalation | “Just hold on.” If Link survived this, his old commander was going to yell at him if he saw him again. This was beyond stupid. It didn’t matter. It hadn’t since that moblin backhanded Sprite and knocked him into the raging waters of the river.

Sands of Time Ganlink 3/3 - "Calling to You (My Safety Net)" “I don’t need you to help me I can handle things myself.” Suppressed Suffering | “I’m fine.” In which the call of Link's new home proves stronger than common sense or years of experience. Mistakes are made.

Resident Evil: Nivannedy One-Shot - “Falling for You” Leon Kennedy goes missing in another dark mansion in the middle of another dark forest. This was why Leon insisted to Piers that their honeymoon take place on a sunny beach somewhere. Resident Evil: Metaltango One-Shot - “In Our Time of Dying” Leon's initial toast to his dead lover had been a little premature. His second toast, water instead of vodka, was somehow even less satisfying. Resident Evil: Nivannedy ¼ “Singing My Requiem” Just yesterday, the top item on Leon's "Worst Way to Die" list had seemed obvious. Becoming a BOW, of course. Yesterday was a very, very long time ago, and the silence gave Leon far too much time to think and reconsider.

Resident Evil: Vendetta Gen One-Shot - “Losing My Religion” For Leon S. Kennedy, surrounded by death and betrayal, hope was a thing with razor-sharp wings. Resident Evil: Nivannedy ¼ - “Murphy’s Law” When trapped in a cave-in, no matter how bad the situation was, never think that it couldn't get worse. Really, Leon Kennedy should have known better. It can always get so, so much worse.

Help. I'm accidentally making a full fic universe for Hyrule Warriors and HW!Link. I've already decided not to work on original fiction this Nano and focus on fanfiction because I'm so far behind on my writing goals, and this is happening? Ah, brain. No. Not again.

Whumptober prompt: “Are you here to break me out?” This one is... actually pretty chill? More of HW!Link and Proxi rescuing fairies, though this one is in /significantly/ better state. Fairy from Termina Map  I3 (I’m... not good at the game so I’m still stuck part way through Great Sea Map ^^; but I took the name from one of my other lightning fairies and will reroll her sooner or later.) Also hurt/comfort bingo ‘cages’.

Just short today

It had been a long time now.

How long, Avelle did not know. Long enough that her magic was wearing thin, but not so long that she had lost any part of herself. So long as she had her magic she had no need of eating, drinking, or air. Her prison is made of frosted glass, and leaves her no room even to stretch her wings fully.

Instead she remains, knelt where she fell, hands lose in her lap and eyes shut as she waits, and waits, and waits.

What she waits for she does not know, but she sits in the still and the nothing. She is magic, she is lightning, she is the storm. A bottled storm, but one none the less; she holds to the magic that makes her up, to the essence of herself, and lets everything else slip away.

Some day her captors will have use for her.

Some day.

Eventually.

... Right?

And so she kneels, patient, eternal.

A fairy cannot starve, but she can fade; Avelle holds to herself for days and weeks and time slips as she reaches months. She just sits, and waits, lightning in a bottle, a pent-up waiting storm.

And then, one day, eventually... There is a sound.

Avelle does not hear it, deep in her own mind as she is.

She does feel, finally a storm calling for her.

It feels to take another age for her to raise her head, her very being having worn thin from so long within her cage. Close she feels the presence of a sister; with effort she pulls her eyes apart, lashes sticking where the frost had sealed them.

There stands a fairy, cold blue and so very very young. She is so very frightened, but her eyes are determined anyway.

Cold lips part, a little practice cracking the skin but pulling it to shape.

“Are you here to break me out, little sister?”

Her voice thunders like the clashing of the storms from which she was born, for who her soul years even as her body is so tired.

The young fairy smiles, a little less frightened for it as she nods, “yup! Link and I are clearing out the fort, and found you here. The lid is all open if you want to come out! Link was worried when you didn’t fly out yourself, so here I am! He’s the one who beat up all the monsters! And he’s been helping out many many sisters while we’ve been travelling.”

Slowly, with creaking bones and seizing limbs, Avelle pulls herself to her feet. And then, up she looks to the open lid.

Somewhere, not too far away, she hears the thunder roar again, and lets a smile pull up to her lips.

“... Big Sister?” The question from the young fairy comes with a hand on Avelle’s spine, granting her magic freely taken.

Avelle takes no more than enough to dart out of the bottle, out of the room, out of a window and into the storm.

Lightning crashes and thunder sounds, and the rain soaks through the desecrated lands around her. The blood is washed away, the storm hides the sounds of the dying and the dead, the healers work with hoods pulled up to find anyone they might yet save.

But the field of battle is not her domain. Not yet, at least, not yet; not while the rain soaks into her bones and her soul, lifting her magic and awakening that which has lain dormant for so very long. She dances above it, in the dark sky and the echoing storm, letting the lightning restore her soul and soak her through.

She laughs and swirls, magic bright once more. She weaves her magic and the storm as one, the thunder sharpens, the lightning brightens, all is the storm and the storm is all and in its chaos she does delight.

And then, when the storm ends, the little sister is waiting for her still with a Hylian man. The man nods to her, the fairy waves.

“Sister! Sister! This is Link!” the younger fairy calls. “He’s the one who did the rescuing.”

Avelle nods to her sister, then up to the man.

“Thank you for your assistance,” she bows and she says, letting her magic ease from the high into a contented, quenched field once more. “I am Avelle, sister of the storm. You have saved me, and thus you gain my aid. What is it that you would bid me do?”

SS!Link/HW!Link Headcanon: 

Scarfy having so much trust in Sky after being in a relationship with him for years, one day when they went out flying he asked Sky that if he fell would Sky catch him Once Sky said he would, Scarfy leaped off the red loftwing and plummeted to the earth below. Sky’s loftwing quickly swooped down to after him and once he was close enough he saw Scarfy smiling. Scarfy was saying “catch me catch me!” with his arms out to Sky. After that stunt, giving Sky a heart attack, Sky told Scarfy next time he might not catch him in time. Later on Scarfy did the stunt again but this time Sky let him free fall for a good 8 to 10 seconds, letting Scarfy actually start freaking out. Once again Sky swooped down and caught him, Scarfy clinging to him tightly. Sky chuckled and earned an earful from Scarfy, but lesson learned. If you give Sky a heart attack for shits and giggles, he’ll give you a worse one right back.
