K but fr why are y'all so stressed over Germany not being the same person as HRE? If anything I think it makes their dynamic a lot more interesting, and makes the ship a lot more sweeter, showing that even if it's not HRE in that body anymore it's still someone Italy could learn to love and move on from HRE. I think it'd make the bond stronger showing that Italy really loves Germany for himself, not just because he shares the same body/looks as his childhood sweetheart if you put it like that.
Or it could provide more angst, because then there would be the conflict of "Does he really love me for me, or for my dead brother?" with Germany. And with Italy it could be "Do I really love him or the one who inhabited his body before?"
Idk, I feel like this adds a lot more flavour to the ship rather than the "Childhood sweethearts but one of them sadly has amnesia :'(" trope, it either makes their bond stronger or adds more conflict and angst to it depending on your take on it.
