I randomly Decided yesterday that the plant I brought in the office (which I need to bring back home for two weeks so the new owners can see how well we adhere to the offices rules) was called Bernadette and used they/them pronouns, because who was I to assign gangster on a potted plant who, anyway, has both reproductive genitals in their flowers.

I was going straight to the cinema after work so my colleague, who lives close to mine, offered to bring them home so I can pick them up on Sunday.

Enter argument between me and my co-worker & my boss to try and explain the They pronouns, and it was left at that as we were exiting the building. I had no expectation that my boss got it, but my co-worker is a very Loudly Self Appointed Ally™ and a poet who loves the English language, so I didn't expect my rant to have gone totally to waste.

This morning I received a text from her saying "Do you mind if I bring they to your flat tomorrow instead? I have to go near yours anyway"
