okay so if it helps. comic, show and game anissa are all different. whether these changes bode well for show anissa remains to be seen. the developers of the game have said that game anissa is meant to be in between the two.
comic anissa was never particularly interesting. i don't think it's accidental that the game almost exclusively references show anissa. comic anissa was a square-jawed angry woman with a buzzcut before she was heel-turned into a one-dimensional rapist before kirkman was like uhhhh she marries a man and then has a child and that Cures her. of what exactly? everything! now she's skinnier, shorter and smaller-chested. the best part about comic anissa is that she hated the idea of pregnancy and being with men. this is iconic of her. i hope show anissa retains this aspect but without being dykebroken reformed through heterofuturism the power of family.
(in fact, there was a time when i thought that it reflected a desire to depict show anissa in a more positive light that she most resembled this reformed anissa, down to have the same costume and the most similar hairstyle. they're not identical: despite having a similar hairstyle, show anissa's is a lot more 90s hearthrob, and show anissa has a younger face (which is, again, not conjecture: the game developers said this specifically informed how they designed game anissa), and obviously show anissa has the skin and lip color change and lip and eye shape change and, y'know, the everything about her. it's funny too that this similarity is wielded to denigrate acknowledging that show anissa is racialized when the only change mark went compared to this era was getting brown eyes and monolids and the latter inconsistently and only starting in season 2 LOL.)
game anissa is fun. i like her cocky girl vegeta energy. i like her 'as humans say' type jokes. it's nice to have a version of anissa that doesn't have a single reference to rape anywhere (i've looked!!), even sexualized as she is, but show anissa is where the substance is.
anyway i've yapped too much and i'm getting embarrassed anyway look at the scene that FULLY anissapilled me.
it's a total divergence from the comic. i'm almost embarrassed talking about it because it was the locus of my excitement for show anissa, all of which has been squandered. when she clenches her fist, it's almost directly paralleled with a shot where nolan confronts his father!! she who has deliberately affected such a stern voice loses it all to gasp and stammer!! the viltrumite who is called 'girl' reduced to daughtercoded subordinate over her failure!!!!!!!! ANISSA KREGG SCENE I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!!!!!!
