Febroary day 12 Iberian Lynx What is Febroary? Febroary is an art challenge where the goal is to draw wild cats, big and small, every day for the duration of the month February. Both as a fun exercise and to draw awareness to these beautiful animals. Did you know? The Iberian lynx population across Spain and Portugal have risen to around 2400 as of the end of 2025, Making a steady comeback since 2002 where there were less than 100 left in the wild. In 2002, there were fewer than 100 left in the wild.

Due to a breeding conservation program there is approximately 1100 found in the wild today.

Conservation status critically endangered.

With ongoing conversation efforts through breeding programmes over the past 20 years the Iberian Lynx bounce back from the brink with 600+ found in the wild today.

Conservation status endangered.

Febroary day 20 - Iberian Lynx

I was unable to work on the Febroary days this weekend so this one took a little longer.

Last year Febroary inspired me to write a novel about an Iberian Lynx family, so meet Iberia, Nixy and their mom!

Did you know? That the Iberian Lynx was on the verge of extinction. There were around 94 individuals left in 2002, this number has luckily gone up to 1668 as of May 2023.
