Character Profile: Darwin

Finally taking a look at his new roommate it was hard to see where the computers ended and Darwin began. His chair glowed softly, cradling his artificial thin legs. his face was heavy, high cheekbones and a firm chin framed his gentle dark eyes and thick hairs had formed on his brow and chin. A black box was attached to his left temple. It gave an unevenness to his face, a sort of tilt that made him seem frailer despite the large chair and glowing left arm.

Darwin Tsuniou is an earthling and classmate to Vi and Haliford. Darwin rarely leaves his docking chair outside of trips to school or to collect mail. Shy and mildly introverted Darwin’s world is online where he is known as [RZD or Rogue Zen Drive] Darwin’s legs and Right arm are bionic augmentations, charged by his own biological electricity and docking chair. His genetic ability is ironically healing, which allows him to fuse his cells to other items. His ability didn’t awaken until his early teens long after his arm and legs had been removed. Darwin prefers bland food and is partial to simple broth stews and processed nutrients.

Character Profile: Haliford Locke

He was a collection of boxes toppled together in a lazy fashion. His legs too thin, his arms too long. and his face was fit squarely onto his thin neck like a postbox. If he had anything going for him, it was his eyes. Blue almost silvery white and yet deep and watchful. He awoke from the drugged sleep most uneventfully, refusing to stretch and yawn. His reservations were exaggerated more than if he had faked it, but no one called him out. No one seemed to care one way or another. Perhaps it was the deep lazy expression on his face, or maybe it was the orange band he still wore from the colony. It would have no meaning on Earth, but here he was lesser. Here he was the presence of absence.

Haliford Locke is a new immigrant from Orion a satellite colony from the Venus Space. He is unenhanced, known on earth as a Natural. However growing up a minority on Orion he’s found himself capable when talking with and handling both Natural and Enhanced/Augmented individuals. He’s fond of tinkering with electronics and reading. He keeps a consistent hobby of cooking, or at the very least arranging processed food into art eating a bit and composting the rest. He hopes to get a career in Genetic Studies and advance ExGen Technology availability. His favorite Foods are Spicy rice dishes, Artifical meat art, and English peas (liberally seasoned and salted)

NaNo 2018 Project Name; RE: Icarus

Tag,  #Icarus2018.

Basic Idea: Haliford is returning to his paternal home, Earth. Haliford is unprepared for the drastic difference in culture from his home on the Orion colony but does his best to take it in stride. When people who are labeled as “naturals” start going missing, it’s up to him and his friend Vi to solve figure out the mysterious attacks around their campus, unaware that there’s a far more dangerous threat closer than they could ever imagine.

Special week deserves a special ask! How would your characters celebrate the Valentines Day? [[pls tag @mastery-in-procrastination in your answer ^^]]

In Torriad culture a feather is given from the past year. Depending on the location of the feathers origin (Arm/Wing = Friendship/Family, Back/Tail= close friendship, Plumage/crown = Lover) note the norm is males give to females.

Humans give small gifts, Boys give out goods on the Day of Knall (first day of spring) and girls return gifts to whom they fancy on the Spring holiday of Tilinfrey (5th first day after Knall) couples celebrate Hannafare in the midsummer, where most courting is started or...ended.

On Earth in 2460, Valentines Day has largely become forgotten. However new, less official couple holidays have appeared. Such as Sharing Day where youths with bionic implants will trade or “share” pieces of their hardware.

Character Profile; The Marks

Her dark eyes were tired, and sitting in the back of the room she looked like a pile of blankets had come alive all folded inside her layers of clothing. Her eyes never left the teacher, as she scribbled notes with a small hand from inside her quilted coat. 

A steel grey eye bore into them from a scarred face behind the glass door. A tall man opened it, his face was mostly machine, clips of technology ran down his neck disappearing into some uniform facial hair tried to escape from behind poorly fitted plating on his chin and his left eye was all the more unsettling with its artificial gaze.

Lisabella and Argo Marks are siblings. Lisabella attends the same school as Haliford, Vi, and Darwin. She has been genetically enhanced via ExGen developing a bioluminescence ability, though rumors are that’s just a byproduct of a different ability. Argo works in the lower factories helping manufacture bionics. He has extensive bionics though the only bodypart that has been fully replaced is his left eye. The two are well known to the gossiping neighbors who whisper rumors of their estranged parents and odd careers the two have made in the darkness...Lisabella likes heavier foods, starches, and meats, peppers and onions are her favorite additons. Argo doesn’t eat much but will secretly treat himself to ice cream (strawberry flavor) or Strawberry Milk (non-organic) the artifical taste is the closest thing he has towards culinary enjoyment.

Character Profile: Vi Nguyen

She had a slight build, not unlike a runner. A thin neck reached from her loose clothing. Her skin looked eerily clean, almost artificially so, if not for slight imperfections in her cheeks and the ink-smudged fingers one might think her a doll. Her dark eyes watched the brown paper held by her knees. Her hands drew furiously, long arcing motions, but each movement was determined, planned out. It was a full minute before she looked up to see the empty room around her. She breathed deeply through her nose and put away her things, ignoring the remaining student she stood and left.

Vi Nguyn is a student at [REDACTED]. Her enhancements were initially expected to match her mother, by giving off a plant-based nurturing gift, however, her mild ability to keep plants healthy mutated into full-on Botanokinesis. Labeled as a potentially dangerous ExGen, she reserved to hide her abilities, rather than risk misunderstanding. She enjoys Drawing and Classical Opera (especially from the 2100 era). Her favorite foods are Bitters and any form of pasta, noodle, or dumpling.
