Peepka, with beach. The beach in this painting is in Frenchman's cove on the Burin peninsula. It's huge and sandy. And no one was there despite it being Labour Day Weekend! It will also always hold a place in my heart for being the first time I went swimming in the ocean here in Newfoundland. Like really swimming. Head under. Front crawl. The works. Couldn't have done it without the supreme coaching efforts of waterbabies Luisa and her mom @kellydscribe. They hardly flinched at the cold while I screamed and shrieked and cried my way in. But I did it. And it was glorious. It took 12 years to finally take the plunge. Doesn't matter. It felt great to scratch it off my bucket list. So, this is a gentle reminder for all, especially #latebloomers (or the super anxious like me) to keep moving towards your dream. It's ok to go at your own pace. Mini steps will get you there, slowly and surely. And when you get there, you'll never look back. There is no time for regret, only celebration, joy, some pride which feels great, and then intrigue and curiosity for the next adventure. Remember, we tend to overestimate how much we can do in a day. But underestimate how much we can do in a year. Mini steps over time really add up.
