Into The Spider-Verse released this month, and it was a sheer joy to watch it on big screen, thoroughly enjoyable, very tightly made. I have always had a soft spot for Spider Man, especially the first two Spider Man movies that Sam Raimi made. I wish they didn’t make the third one in the series, but the first two will always be very dear to me. It came around the time when I was in my teens and was going through a very difficult time. Making of a hero is always the most exciting part of the narrative, and when Spider Man first came in 2002, it really opened a world of fantasy for me. Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker will always be special, no matter how soppy some may claim him the characterisation to be, it really gave a humane touch to a superhero idea. The second one pushed this even further which resonated with me more because I was battling through a lot of personal issues at home and feeling lost in general at school. The way things would fall apart for Peter and how he would pick it up, was fairly inspiring for a boy growing up.

There is a place for Nolan’s Batman, Marvel's Daredevil TV show, but Sam Raimi’s Spider Man was pioneer stuff, and Spider Man (2002) and Spider Man 2 (2004) will always be special.
