It took me about 7 years after graduation, honing my craft and making many mistakes, to get a piece into the @american_illustration_winners contest. I feel that same thrill this year to have these 4 pieces accepted. The last collage-esque piece was my first illustration that got into the competition back in 2002. I was doing collage type work during my first 7 years and this was a sort of transition piece to what I do now. It reminds me to keep pushing my work and to take chances in order to grow. See you all tomorrow at the AI party! @angelorensanzfoundation #illustrationweek 1. Sia for @rollingstone 2. Moonshot for cover of CIO mag 3. Book cover for Get In Trouble 4.
