I think the John Boyega comment might be his speech at the Screen Nation awards. He said "To complain about what is going on is not going to benefit us, Be the change you want to be. Be the change. And continue and focus.” He then apologized on Twitter and said he didn't mean that people shouldn't complain about the lack of diversity in the industry and that he meant those who did not match their rhetoric with action.

Like I can understand why people would be angry at that but he apologized I hope people can forgive him.

We Fly Planes!!!

I am standing in an airport in South Korea...

...and I want to go home. "Lola, can we go back to the Philippines?," I ask my grandmom as I tug at her shirt. It is December of 1992. Poppa's visa application is in the final stages before approval, and soon he can live with Mommy, me, and my new sister all the time. Poppa has waited 10 years to be with her. 10 years of waiting at the airport for her visits every six month. 10 years of being left behind at the airport as she boarded plane after plane to work overseas. 10 years of only letters crossing and comforting the long distance between them. This time was different. "I want to go home and see my friends." I am 3-years-old, confused, and overwhelmed. We left on a gray and cloudy day. The stairs leading to the plane seemed to go on forever. And then we were flying. Up. Up. And away. Manila disappeared behind me. The plane was much too cold, but Lola cradled me in her arms. I lifted the shade and took in the big white clouds with no earth in sight. What lay beyond the clouds would be America, my new home.
