Evan placed a little check mark next to number 3. He studied question number 4 for several moments before quickly placing the newspaper on the table.

“How do you spell-” he stated before cutting himself off mid-sentence. Exhaling sharply, he tried again. “What twelve letter verb has a ‘q’ in the fourth spot?”

Starter

Evan stepped out from around the corner. “I’m here,” he said, the unspoken ‘aren’t I’ hanging in the air. He raised his eyebrows, waiting for an explanation.

Evan thanked the man who brought his tea to him. He had finally snuck away from his mother and was looking forwarding to spending the day reading. Evan had a busy day planned. He needed to get through the six final chapters -- 

“Oh, hello.”

Evan held up his hand. He brought his glass up to his lips and downed the contents. “Continue.”
