Keeping thoughts in check
I was once told by a family member that I was lucky because my Cerebral Palsy saved me, but it wasn’t Cerebral Palsy that saved me. It was my ability to rationale in every little detail my experiences growing up, everything I needed to understand not to take my life and my experiences personally.
My experiences were never about me. But we must learn to understand other people’s behaviour if we are to stay and keep our thoughts around our experiences in check. I know that even though I didn’t have emotional stability, being able to understand my experiences played a pivotal role in my staying well.
I believe that we can get through most things as long as we have understanding on our experiences as we experience them. I also believe that through understanding we will have clarity and with clarity we may bring closure.
