Each flag represents a person who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for freedom and democracy for Ukraine and the free world. 🇺🇦💙💛🇺🇦
#Repost @ukraine.ua with @use.repost . . . Independence Square in Kyiv in 2018 and 2024 💔 Filled with people before the full-scale invasion, the square is now full of flags symbolizing people killed by Russia.
It is a painful reality Ukrainians live in: once peaceful places of our beloved country are turned into an endless reminder of Russia’s inhuman aggression.
But at the same time, those places also remind us of our defenders, protecting the country every minute of every day, our medics, saving the lives of Ukrainians, our volunteers, working relentlessly, and all the people united to help Ukraine 🇺🇦
We all want the same thing — Russia to be stopped and brought to justice. We all need Ukraine to win for that to become a reality. Stand with Ukraine, as we fight against evil.

In remembrance of this significant day of 2014 in the life of Ukraine and its fight to remain a free and independent democratic sovereign state, here's another important history lesson (with an accompanying carousel of pictures including this one) from @ukraine.ua. 🇺🇦💙💛🇺🇦

. . .
On this day in 2014, Ukrainians gathered in the central square of Kyiv, Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti), to protest against infamous anti-democratic laws, aka the "Dictatorship laws", adopted with numerous procedural violations.
Thousands decided to show their voice near the Parliament. On their way on Hrushevskyi Street, protesters were stopped by police. That's when the most violent part of the revolution started. In a few days, the first deaths caused by police would be reported.
As a result of protests, the Prime Minister resigned, and the Parliament repealed the "draconian laws". Ukrainians showed then and keep showing today that our values aren't just words. If we have to fight for our country to be democratic, free, and prosperous, we will.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes! 🇺🇦

A week ago I passed through there and I was appalled at all the garbage tossed all over the square and the number of homeless people who have made it their home. Look at how many times Sanitation moved Ninja Man and the next day he back underneath the treasury building. I note Mr. Simpson mentioning above that “we need to provide for the homeless”. I do believe that there has been a valiant effort to rehabilitate the homeless and reintegrate them into society but many of them are now comfortable with their lifestyles. I remember having spoken to a homeless man who was once an architect. Many May have remembered him because he used to sketch all his drafts on dismantled cardboard boxes in town. He told me after his loss everything in his divorce he had no where to turn but the streets and he realised life was easier - no bills to pay, no one to be responsible for but himself. He ate when food came, showered when the mood hit and didn’t trouble a soul. When that conversation ended I said to myself that man had a sense of peace about his aura. He was contented with the path he had chosen. It’s one thing to say do more but there are many like him who do not wish to be part of society any longer. There is a homeless shelter in the heart of bridgetown, they can get meals, clean clothes, shoes, hair cuts, shower, sleep - but they are RULES and some of them simply do not want to adhere to them. If government has to make a hard & fast decision to move all those homeless people from Independence Square someone would shout human rights violations etc etc etc. It is a no win situation. #thechasefiles #coreyworrell #homelessness #vagrants #independencesquare #somehappyonthestreets #ninjaman #treasurybuilding https://www.instagram.com/p/CV6FI30J_enrm3Mks08A4YRrWib3pIeryK09Gs0/?utm_medium=tumblr
Charlotte - Traveling to the queen city Charlotte , where the morning rises with bankers and coders moving around in the geometrical cubicles and the night glittering around with club maniacs and rooftops candle light dinner. City with tall buildings, long roads, gimmicky signals, parked vehicles, standing and sitting pedestrians all adding resonance to the attractive skyline of the town. One of the city that never sleeps yet called “ The city of dreams”. The beautiful landscape is an integral part of its true character… #charlottenc #queencity #firebird #independencesquare #skyline #symmetry #geometry #abstract #urbanphotography #street #agameoftones #cityview #moodygrams #my_daily_capture #traveldiaries #foodtrucks #graffitiart (at Charlotte, North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/CU87WgQjPic/?utm_medium=tumblr
