i will! i know it's been a LONG time since i updated it, but i promise (and @enjoloras can testify...) that the whole story has been planned and plotted out, pretty much down to the chapter. 2021 was a tough year for everyone but i had the double whammy of qualifying as a teacher in july while dealing with unexplained (and pretty debilitating) health problems between may and now :') now that i'm getting back on the wagon i'm planning to finish it!

The year is 1857. In India, the Sepoy Mutiny is underway across East India Company territories, though the Himalayan hill-station Simla seems untouched by conflict. Here, Radha and her sister have been hired to work in the household of Baron Eugene Auclair and his young, heavily pregnant wife. Struggling to balance obeying orders with helping her vulnerable mistress, Radha becomes increasingly embroiled in the web of dark family secrets, threatening her and everyone she loves.

In early wintertime, betel but trees are laden with pink nuts. On moonlit paush nights, the fishermen’s nets are filled with a silvery haul. Around the bonfires peasants sing the ballads of ancient warriors. Cottage floors are carpeted with hay. Jackals come out at night. The mustard blooms. Boat races are held. Fireflies in the Mist, Qurratulain Hyder.
