Refugees are in need of your presence. If you have a US passport and time on your hands, the families in Benito Juarez region of Tijuana need your support. Currently federalis (Mexico Police) in raid gear are not allowing anyone to go in or leave the shelter housing immigrants. They are unable to use the portable toilets outside. They have no running water or food inside. We went today to bring feminine hygiene products, water, food, first aid supplies, and personal hygiene items but were blockaded from entering. The biggest thing these refugees need are bodies here in Tijuana and also getting the word out about this crisis. These families were already moved from the sports arena. They were promised that they could stay at the warehouse until January 26th and yet today an eviction notice was placed on the warehouse. If you have any contacts or connects, now is the time to dive in. This is a humanitarian crisis. There is a war against the poor at your doorstep. For this Welcome Back Open Mic, we are highlighting social consciousness to practice love over hate. DETAILS IN OUR BIO. Richy represents Indigenous 1492. What "indigenous" means to him? It means culture, roots, traditions that have been forgotten due to colonization and genocide. It is a history forgotten and not taught in our schools. He started Indigenous 1492 in February of 2016 in the midst of all this Donald Trump stuff talking about immigrants. He believes it's sad because how can we be immigrants when we are all indigenous to this continent from Alaska to Argentina. All is one, but in the bigger picture we are all indigenous to this continent no matter where you're from. He feels the world is changing. It's a beautiful time to be in "if you can see all the beauty in the ugly." It's tough crazy times right now and things are going to probably get worse but in the end he believes humanity is going to wake up and go back to its old traditional ways, like the days of our ancestors with a modern twist. #Repost @indigenous1492 ・・・ Today I witnessed a stand off at the 1806 bridge barricade north of #OcetiOyate camp. The National Guard was present in riot gear as a bulldozer built up the barricade. Today, fortunately, no force was used. However, last night I witnessed an intense confrontation between protesters and police that lasted long into the night. The police used rubber bullets, bean bag rounds, pepper spray, and tear gas on unarmed #waterprotectors. A group of protesters who left the bridge and flanked out to the edge of the razor wire fence was rushed by police on snowmobiles and snow cats. One protester was run over by a snowmobile. Someone on the legal team told us that through the whole night, 13 people were arrested. One of the 13 was my dear friend Sam (@greenteamochi666), and her front tooth was chipped after being thrown to the ground by a policeman.
