The initiation ceremony of a young boy can start early. Skin names are given, personal totems may be gifted, my son will be given the honour of becoming a Lore Man. Once he reaches puberty (usually indicated by chin/facial hair) He will again be taken by me and my Elders to undertake a pathway to teach language, customs and knowledge. He will be taught the most important role he must undertake and that is to protect this land and be the custodian of country for his children, so once he returns back to the Dreaming to be with me and his Ancestors, his family can enjoy and feel connected and protected by this land. Learning to play the Didgeridoo is part of a boys journey (depending from what part of country your tribe is from) is a very important path to take. Playing it as part of his sacred Initiation Ritual that has been performed by 380+ generations before you is a privilege, honour and very spiritual.
