I really don’t think most non-gay men realize how common it is for HIV prevention and outreach workers to be absolute tyrants within their local gay communities.

Like these people knowingly make spaces hostile to gay men who disagree with them on any issue be it political, social, etc.  In the city I used to live in, the “queer” (he was bi but let people think he was gay) outreach worker “JD” was a self-admitted sociopath who only took the position to make his ex feel scared to live in that city.  He involved himself in every lgb and t space to exert control and be the only one people could turn to to make things happen.  Any individual who appeared to be in charge was just an extension of him (friends of his who held his beliefs, people he could blackmail).  I told him that his political beliefs were alienating to gay men that were more centrist or on the right and that they wouldn’t come to his workplace to get HIV prevention or care and his response was “good.”  They use the position as a front to appear like a caring, socially conscious person only to monopolize and weaponize it against any gay man who puts a toe out of line.

TAG LIST & THEIR MEANINGS

gay straight relations | The tag I use to talk about interpersonal relationships between gay men and straight people, most often heterosexual women.  Topics range from homophobic/heterosexist microaggressions, straight women ‘grooming’ gay men, and straight women as sexual predators.

dangerACE | The tag I (will) use to discuss the issues I have with including asexuals in LGB spaces.  Mostly will have to do with normalizing loveless relationships.

team monogamy | The tag I (will) use to merrily shit on anyone in open or polyamorous relationships and their negative impact on gay men.

het wars | The tag I (will) use to rag on straight people and their bullshit with each other.  Typically where I screenshot straight people being hypocrites to one another.

kink police | The tag I (will) use to rag on stupid ass kinks like pup play, DDLG, crossdressing, furries, and whatever other bullshit you need to avoid confronting how much you can’t consent to your partner.  Dick piercings will be confiscated and melted down for scrap metal.

I don't know, maybe the reason that you are getting fewer hook-ups into your 40s is that, despite having a job with the federal government that comes with benefits, you remain a stanky, yuck mouth with a rotting tooth front and center.
