PHEW.
me after working for 5 minutes:
Christ...it's been WAAAAAY to long since the last update...
TMI Tuesday! Your OT3 - sleeping positions. How did they work out that was the best way to sleep, and did it involve kicking, accidental punching, sleep-talking, etc? :D
Ooooo this is such a good one because it’s actually part of how I started really thinking about and wanting to write the OT3 finally instead of just *knowing* it was my secret OT3. The intimate moments beyond sexual intimacy really sold it for me wanting to try to explore how I think their relationship would develop and play out. The idea of Abigail cuddled up between John and Rylen was just way too sweet, especially because of how I envision it starting off.
At the beginning, Abby is the meat - she’s the common denominator, even though it’s like the three of them are together. But really they’re just both with her when things first start. So their sleeping arrangement is always her in the middle, and she’s definitely a gigantic, needy cuddler. For her at least, it was likely heaven - getting to sleep on someone’s shoulder and be spooned at the same time. Probably just needed to adjust how many blankets they slept with because it could get really toasty. I especially imagine Rylen is like a furnace when he sleeps.
John and Rylen on the other hand probably had a lot more adjustment. Rylen tries his best to respect John’s space, and he’d gotten so used to sleeping alone before and taking up the whole bed, so I’m sure there were a few nights he sprawled a bit too much and crowded everyone. One of my favorite scenes to write so far was John and Rylen talking that first morning, and checking up on one another and how they slept. It was such a simple thing, but showed just how much they’re all working on communicating and being open about things.
As things progress (spoilers, I suppose?) the sleeping arrangements will become more fluid and flexible. I definitely love to picture either Rylen or John in the middle, the other two cuddled up on either side, sleeping on the middle’s shoulders. By the time they’re at that point, I think they’ll be used to three people in the bed, and there will be less accidental Rylen-stretching-across-the-whole-bed-like-a-starfish moments.
Although picturing that is hilarious.
If anyone’s seen the stapler can you bring it to my office? I can’t find it.
Still chuggin away
