i think the fantasy lately is like, my love and attraction to someone being so intense that the force of it chokes and confines me and enslaves me to them. they recognize my feelings and feel disgust and contempt for them. they take advantage of it to enrich themselves and punish me for loving them. our relationship becomes hierarchical; their wants supercede my needs. i get pushed to the edge of my limits and past, they do everything they can to make me suffer for the crime of having desire, they seek out what i want specifically to deny me so my craving gets more ravenous and ensnares me more. they crack me open and take everything valuable and everything i can give and the more they take the further in debt to them I become. I adore them and so completely lack the ability to resist any of it. they could never reciprocate the feelings of such a fawning and weak creature.

I don't worry about the official books anymore. They were nice inspiration. The rest of the elain/elriel imaginarium has blossomed such beautiful fiction, spin offs, and satisfying arcs of power, diversity, and depth.... it's actually fine. 🌄💘

Absolutely self-serving and pictured by no one else ever probably, but I’m posting it here anyway. I have a headcanon that Barda has some mad make-up skills from his time in the palace. I know royalty wore make-up, but someone did it for them, so I think at least some of the other people would be able to do it on themselves every once in a while. Like, Lindal wears it in special occasions, but Barda makes it glam, you know?

And I think they are going on a date here, so he’s gotta impress with his sharp eyeliner game.

Also, normalize bearded men with make-up.
