Now, this is just a gut feeling but hear me out, people. I know it, know it deep within my bones that modern Sherlock Holmes's mails look like this:
And I don't mean the BBC Sherlock version either. I'm talking about something that actually embraces the fact that Sherlock Holmes is a human being, not some superhuman entity (not talking about being a machine). Some adaptations where the showrunners would just be eager to show how this man would look, act, think and solve crimes in the modern world instead of being eager to outwit their audience.
Now, on the topic of emails. Remember the unanswered correspondence and knife on mantle piece? I get the feeling that he would be subscribed to fifteen newsletters and on the mailing list for thirty science journals. And he would ignore them for weeks, just to sit down and read everything in a day.
Physical mail, on the other hand, is something he would see (Not bills— those would be sent to Watson), mostly because after he is finished with them, he would use the paper as scraps for scribbling on. Anyway, let me know if you think it would be something different entirely.
