I just rewatched Geats 12 with Genm subs... I now thing that the old man is fine. He lost his desire while still in the game, I don't think we'd see a huge change in personality if we encounter him again.
Well, we won't really know unless we see him again, I guess, but one can hope :)) After all we don't really know his motivations for the wish he made, so maybe losing that motivation could be a good thing for him in the long run?
