“You got a cute butt.” MoniIwa
It’s not a phrase he’d been expecting to hear but, honestly, he isn’t surprised to hear it. This is a gym where a good ninety-three percent of the members are on some part of the spectrum that is distinctly not heterosexual and even the seven percent who are appreciate a good compliment every now and again regardless of who it comes from. It isn’t even the fact that it was directed at him that surprises him. Over the last year he has been a member here he has gotten more than his fair share of compliments and flirtatious comments and phone numbers and dates. In fact he, Tsukishima, and Sawamura are tied for number of times asked out and he’s barely behind Sugawara in number of phone numbers given.
No the part that shocks him when he stands up and turns around is who is talking to him.
Moniwa has been a member of the gym practically since the day Sawamura took over the place from his old neighbor, Ukai, and as far as Hajime knew - and he knew a lot, Sawamura and Tsukishima were horrible gossips and they had sucked Hajime into their little circle less than a week after he joined the gym - Moniwa had never shown even the slightest bit of interest in anyone. Ever.
“Care to run that by me again?”
“I said that you’ve got a cute butt.” Moniwa isn’t blushing nervously, though there is a slight tinge to his cheeks that could be from the words or it could be from the fifteen minutes of warm up stretches he had just finished. Not that Hajime had been watching or anything. He may have been staring into a void of nothingness while doing his own stretches that might have been in the same vicinity as Moniwa, at least until Hajime turned around and started stretching out his hamstrings.
“Thank you?” Hajime doesn’t mean for it to come out as a question but he is thrown off. He’s not uncomfortable, not in the least, he’s just confused as to the attention Moniwa has been paying to him. And his butt apparently.
“Just thought I should let you know.” Moniwa nods to himself a few times and shifts his weight a little like he’s trying to figure out what to say next and it occurs to Hajime that this is sadly the longest conversation he can remember actually having with Moniwa. Usually Moniwa stays at the edges of conversations and only speaks when he’s coaxed into it by Sawamura or Nametsu. Moniwa nods again and his eyes dart away from Hajime, whatever confidence he had to approach apparently gone now, and he excuses himself and heads over to the treadmills on the other side of the gym. Hajime watches him for a moment and then follows, curiosity getting the best of him.
“And that,” Ennoshita says with a grin as he props his elbow on Tsukishima’s stack of paperwork, “is how you ruin a life. Congratulations.”
