I hope this doesn't comes across as rude, I did a bit of my own research and still a bit confused, one can only see something so much before curiosity takes over.

What exactly is Taskmaster, is it just one show, or a collection of different shows, part game show, part whatever I have seen so far?

i was so excited when i got this ask that i saved it for a time when i was a little more free, so sorry for my lateness on this!!

it doesn't come off as rude AT ALL

in all honesty, i'm probably not the best person to ask this as i only got into taskmaster last year but basically, it's a gameshow which started in the uk and has had many editions in lots of different countries worldwide including Australia, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Canada (Quebec), Sweden, Spain and the US.

it's just one show, but the uk version has just finished it's 20th series (and is gearing up for the 21st series this year!) every series, there are 5 comedians competing various tasks across around 9/10 episodes to win the amazing prize of the taskmaster (greg davies') golden head trophy at the end :DD

the taskmaster has an assistant, alex horne (who created the show) who has a massive humiliation kink and will always create tasks for comedians to complete that make u go 🤨 what was that and how can this legally be aired 😆 (and they're always being gay w/ each other btw)

for a long time, i didn't get the humour, but i honestly think it depends on which comedians are competing in which series and you kind of learn to love their characters! (i just needed to give it a proper chance lmao)

the competitors (comedians) get awarded points on how effectively they competed the task (which is normally very creative, humiliating and stupid) normally the more a comedian is willing to completely humiliate themselves, the higher the points they get for each task. 5 points is the max amount you can get, second best will get 4, then 3, 2 and the worst at the task in the taskmaster's opinion will only get 1 point :(

you've probably seen me posting the below gif, and the task for this was to choose between the word most vs least. 4/5 comedians picked the word 'most' and this dude (mathew baynton) picked the word 'least'.

the comedians who picked 'most' had to eat a yoghurt with the MOST dignity.

so since mathew picked 'least' he had to eat a yoghurt with the 'LEAST' dignity - with most extreme eating winning.

and boy did he take it to the extreme (licking yoghurt off of alex's shoes). and he got 5 points for all of THIS 👇👇👇

so yeah i hope that kind of answers ur question?? they also have spin-off series like the recent 'champion of champions' series, where the past 5 winners all compete against each other for the status of 'champion of champions' :DD (spoiler alert: mathew baynton won this again lolol 🏆<33)
