it’s still fairly early in the day, but already, jason’s exhausted. for once, it doesn’t entirely have to do with training — not physically, anyway. since tommy became the new green ranger, things have been understandably tense among the team. as designated leader, he feels like he’s supposed to be the one to fix that, somehow. but it’s been weeks, and things still haven’t gotten much better. trini’s already stormed off, kimberly and zack following behind, probably to comfort her. billy’s left by now, too, saying something about how his mom wanted him home.
and though billy’s usually not one to lie, jason suspects his real reason for leaving is stress. he couldn’t blame him.
which only leaves jason and tommy outside the ship, standing below the water that separates them from the rest of the mines. he’s not sure what to say — if he should apologize, again, for trini, if he should betray her by explaining her behavior, even if it’s not entirely his place. back when he was still playing for the tigers, whenever there was tension between players, the coach would alleviate it, not him. but zordon’s probably the closest thing, and jason’s not keen on the idea of turning to him for help with this. not yet, at least.
