JACK: !
CLYDE: !
BEEL: Yet, as a devil myself, I can do this… I shall be hiding in the shelter in the basement until this event blows over. To you two, good luck in the earth’s lava core.
JACK: Well, Clyde, we have only two options; die by Chris’s hand, or suicide. How do you want to die?
CLYDE: Not from his hands or power ever! I vote for suicide down the 72-story elevator shaft.
JACK: Right; we are unanimous then. Shall we go out holding hands?
CLYDE: Why not? We both are d***ed anyway. For torturing Chris emotionally and mentally, we were not doing our homo kind any favors; we worsened Chris’ view of our kind.
CLYDE: Well, see you in hell, Jack.
Beel has some sort of teleportation powers, or perhaps can phase through the floor, and leaves Jack and Clyde to die alone. Apparently he can’t, or possibly he chooses not to, take Jack and Clyde with him wherever he’s going. Also, Chris apparently thinks Hell is in the core of the Earth, which is actually made of iron and nickel, not lava or magma.
Jack and Clyde acknowledge their time has come and that they have two options - stay where they are and let the building come down on top of them, letting Chris kill them, or jump down the elevator shaft, the one Sonichu and Rosechu rode up in Sonichu 8, and die on their own terms. Clyde tells his lover (by the way this is literally the first time anyone has suggested these two are in a sexual and romantic relationship) that he doesn’t want their mortal enemy Chris to be the person to kill him, so he decides better to die than be killed and Jack agrees, they promise to go out holding hands. Clyde reiterates, for the third time, that they’re “d***ed” (damned, but I prefer the Audiobooks going with “dicked”) for pestering Chris, and the two jump, escaping Chris’s grasp at the cost of their lives. This is unintentionally the most romantic moment in Sonichu.
Like his choice to make Jason have a sudden change of heart, Chris’s choice to give Clyde and Jack such a dignified death are puzzling. Chris hates Clyde and Jack, especially for their homosexuality, why does he here make it look like a tragic love story of two rebel lovers who are ultimately crushed by the evil they oppose, but not without one final gesture of defiance? He certainly crushes the Asperpedia 4 once he has them under his heel, so why does he let Jack and Clyde die on their own terms? My best guess is that by January 2010, Clyde was already “dead”, by a very suspicious suicide in May 2009, and Jack was still a thorn in Chris’s side but not to the extent of other trolls like the Asperpedia 4. So Chris still wanted them dead and buried, but his hatred had cooled down to the point he didn’t want them to suffer to the degree that he made the Asperpedia 4 suffer, as their deaths happened much closer to the bulk of their trolling. Nevertheless I can’t wrap my head around why 2009 Chris would give his one notable homosexual couple such a touching tale.
Jack thaddeus with the style of the Asperchu comics
The funny thing is that if they had music or were musicians, the truth is I would listen to them, not ironically.
