Note: This is the prequel that starts Reader and Michael's relationship before the fics -> There You'll Be and Terrible Towels and the Touchdown of Love
This is all Jack's fault. Your older brother thought that if he could get you and Robby in the same room at the same time, you'd stop fighting with each other. Now you're stuck in the supply closet at work with Robby and Jack is standing outside laughing his ass off. Jack knows you’re claustrophobic too, so this isn’t fucking funny.
What Jack doesn't realize is that you and Robby are well acquainted with each other. And yes you do fight with each other but that's because you don't know how to talk to each other after your one drunken night stand like 2 months ago.
You backed yourself up against a solid wall and slid down it. You buried your head in your hands and did your best to control your breathing and to make sure you didn't start crying. Michael was banging on the door pleading with Jack to let you both out. He had no idea what you were going through behind him.
When your breath hitched, Robby turned around to face you. Panic set into his eyes and he knelt down next to you.
“Hey kid, you okay?”
All you could do was shake your head no.
“Claustrophobic?”
You nodded your head yes and tried to get your breathing back under control. You tried to match your breathing to Robby's.
“When we get out of here, I'm gonna punch your brother.”
“Me too.”
“Do you know why he locked us in here?”
You nod your head yes but refuse to meet Michael's eyes. He places one of his hands under your chin and lifts your head so you have no choice but to look him in the eyes.
“Spill it.”
“He locked us in here in the hopes that we would quit fighting with each other. We're the two most important people to him and he hates that we are constantly arguing.”
“We're not constantly fighting.”
“Yeah we are Robby and we have been for the past two months.”
“I thought we weren't going to bring up what happened two months ago?”
“We've never talked about it; not once. We avoid the topic like the plague.”
“What's there to talk about?!”
“Don't raise your voice at me Michael Joseph Robinavitch. I'm just telling you how it is.”
“Little Abbot there is no need to full name me.”
“Except there is and there's something I need to tell you. It's important. Also stop calling me that, you know I hate it.”
“What's wrong?”
“I'm pregnant.”
“Mine?”
“Do I look like a slut to you? Of course it's yours.”
“I didn't mean to insinuate anything. I know you're not a slut. You're a beautiful woman who I can't drag down with me. I'll support you in whatever decision you wanna make.”
“What the fuck Robby?! I want to keep the baby and damnit it's not up to you whether you get to bring me down or not. You've been doing considerably well as of late, so give yourself more credit.”
“Your brother is going to kill me.”
“No he isn't. He likes the idea of you and me. Why else would he trap us in this fucking closet? Besides, he also knows I'm good for you. I can get you out of that pretty head of yours and back to reality Mikey.”
“Kid, you don't know what you're asking for from me.”
“Damnit Michael I'm an adult. Sure I'm Jack's younger sister but I'm still an adult. Quit calling me kid. The only kid in this situation is the one growing in my uterus that you put there.”
“Okay sweetheart. Calm down, we'll figure all of this out one step at a time.”
“Michael?”
“Yeah?”
“If you don't want me just say so. I'm a big girl and I can handle the rejection. If you think our drunken escapade 2 months ago was a mistake and you wish you'd never done it, then say so. But if that's not how you feel then stop letting your insecurities and past relationships dictate how you think ours will turn out.”
“I don't regret what we did. I do regret how I've treated you since then. You're so smart and so sweet and absolutely gorgeous. You're one of the best doctors I've ever gotten to work with. But you're also my best friend's sister which complicates things a little bit.”
“Hold that thought.”
You stand up with Michael's help and walk over to the closet door.
“Jacky, I think I want to spend the rest of my life with your best friend. Are you okay with that?”
“About fucking time!”
You turn back around to face Michael. He's biting his lip and looking at you as if you're a part of a dream that he's afraid will vanish any second now. You motion for Michael to come towards you. He does so and opens his arms. You step into his arms.
“So you were saying Robby?”
“I think you can stick to Mikey sweetheart. You really want to do this? Be all in with me?”
“I mean I am having your baby, and never once debated giving them up or having an abortion, so I think that should answer the question for you.”
“Well then I want you to know that this probably won't be easy, but I'll go all in with you.”
“Wait really?”
“Yeah gorgeous. And did you know every time we argued over the past few months, I thought about pulling you into the on-call room and just putting a stop to it once and for all.”
“You should've. I'd have gone willingly.”
“I know that now.”
“Can you promise me one thing?”
“What's that?”
“That we'll both be better about communicating with each other. I know you tend to bottle everything up until it explodes and I'm inclined to do the same. But I want this to work between us. I'll put the effort in if you'll do the same.”
“I'll do my best sweetheart. Don't be afraid to call me out on my bullshit. Knock me upside the head if you have to.”
“Now that I can do and will do.”
“Good. And feel free to tell me no but can I touch your belly?”
You nod your head and smile up at him before exiting his arms and lifting your scrub top a little bit so Michael can see your stomach. Michael drops back down to his knees and places his hands on your belly. He places a kiss to your stomach and it tickles thanks to his beard but you don't flinch or laugh, you just smile down at him. Michael stands back up and you pull your scrub top back down.
“I hope our little one gets all of their mama's beauty.”
“Oh please I hope they get your expressive brown eyes and your to die for smile. They don't need all of the Abbot genes because it's bad enough I share them with Jack.”
“You're the attractive Abbot sibling so our baby would be one cute replica of you.”
“I'm telling Jack that you think I'm the more attractive one out of the two of us.”
“Shit babe I'll tell him that to his face.”
“Thank you Mikey.”
“For what?”
“You helped me out when I was panicking about being trapped in here, you're communicating with me, and you're being super cute about the whole baby thing. I really expected you to freak out.”
“I'm not freaking out because I've wanted kids for a while now and I couldn't ask for a better partner. I'm still sorry that I couldn't get over myself and have a civil conversation with you months ago but instead I decided to just argue with you every chance I had. You don't owe me anything let alone a chance at having a family and falling in love. But I'm going to do my best to prove that you're not making a mistake by being with me.”
“I guess it's a good thing I've sort of been falling in love with you for years and that includes when we argue.”
“You're an angel darling and I love you. Not going to run from my emotions this time.”
“I hope so but we'll work on it cause I think you're worth it.”
“I don't deserve you.”
“Yes you do. Now hush and let's make it so Jack regrets locking us in here.”
“What do you have in mind?”
“Push me up against the wall?”
“And then what?”
“Kiss me.”
“I thought you'd never ask.”
Michael takes your hand in his and pulls you over to the solid wall. He presses you against the wall so your back is to it and then he leans into your space. His lips meet yours and it's even better than you remembered. You melt into him and let him control the kiss.
He gets tired of kissing your lips and kisses across your face until he gets to your jawline. He places kisses all down your jawline and then dips his head into your neck. You tilt your head so he has better access and you're rewarded with a bite to your neck that he immediately soothes with his lips. You let out some obnoxious moans and Michael giggles into your neck.
“Louder honey, gotta make it sound convincing.”
You laugh and nod your head. Michael continues to kiss and nip at your neck and your moans turn from clearly fake to real moans by the time Michael's mouth gets to your pulse point. The closet door opens quickly and hard enough to hit the wall. Your brother is standing in the doorway and he's pissed.
“I'm okay with this relationship but please for the love of everything holy do not have sex in the supply closet.”
Michael pulls away from you but sticks his hand out for you to take. You interlock your fingers with his and smirk at your brother.
“Get used to it Jacky boy. Mikey's here for the long haul.”
“I'm older than you so stop that and good I'm glad to hear it.”
“Jack, I'm giving you a five second head start to walk quickly out of this room because I'm gonna hit you.”
“Hit me? Why?”
“Your 5 seconds is winding down big brother and I'm also going to hit you.”
“Why am I getting hit?”
“For locking us in here and causing your sister to have a minor panic attack.”
“Oh fuck. I'm sorry bubs, I forgot you're claustrophobic.”
“She doesn't need the extra stress but thanks brother for making us talk it out.”
“You're welcome and what do you mean she doesn't need the extra stress?”
“I'm pregnant Jack.”
“And Michael's the father?”
“Yeah. We've been arguing because I refused to talk to your sister about our drunken escapade a couple months ago.”
“Mike. Run.”
“Why?”
“Because I'm going to hit you.”
“What if we just all call it even and get back to work?”
“Technically you two are off the clock for the night so you can leave, but I'll accept the truce.”
“Ditto.”
“Good. Now come give me a hug Jack and tell me how happy you are for me.”
Jack walks further into the closet and hugs you. You hug your brother tighter. He lets you go and motions for Michael to come closer. Michael walks over to your brother and Jack hugs him. All of the tension leaves Michael's shoulders and he hugs Jack back. Then they separate.
“I really am happy for you both. But Michael, if you ever hurt her, nobody will find your body.”
“I know Jack.”
“I hope the baby looks like you sis, and not Mikey's ugly mug.”
“And this is why she is the hottest Abbot sibling.”
“You take that back.”
“Nope.”
“Sorry not sorry Jack, I'm the hotter sibling and I hope the baby is healthy and happy and I'll love them no matter which parent they end up looking like more. Also Michael's hot as fuck.”
“I'll concede and agree that we all want a happy and healthy baby. But I'll never say Michael's hot.”
“You just did brother and to be fair you're not too bad to look at either.”
“My brother and my boyfriend flirting with each other. I'm not even surprised, it feels on brand for you two. Now come on dumbasses, Jack needs to get to work and I wanna go home.”
“Hey!”
“Watch your mouth shithead.”
“I'm not even sorry. Mikey, will you walk me home?”
“Yeah I can walk you home.”
“You better be walking her to our house Robby.”
“Nah Jack, I'm going to Mikey's. Have fun at work.”
You and Michael quickly left the closet before Jack could argue with you two some more.
“You wanna go to my place or did you say that to annoy Jack?”
“A bit of both but only if that's okay with you.”
“It's more than okay with me because in a couple months it'll be your home too.”
“You make a fair point because our child should live with both of their parents.”
“Exactly but also I just want you with me whenever I can.”
“That sounds good to me, handsome.”
“I'm glad you agree gorgeous. I'll go get our bags from the lounge and meet you out front.”
You kissed him in acknowledgement and just because you can. He kissed you back and smiled as he pulled out of the kiss. You smiled at him and bit your lip.
“I'll see you out front in like 5 minutes.”
“Can't wait.”
Michael took off towards the doctor's lounge and you headed outside of PTMC.
Nobody's going to be able to wipe the smile off your face because you're finally getting everything you've ever wanted. You'll thank Jack's meddling ass properly later but he'll know how thankful you are especially when you name him your baby's honorary godfather out of love and respect and because you know he will support and care for your baby just like he did for you.

Note: This is an installment into the universe started with There You'll Be! Please let me know if I forgot anything.
Stevie and Maddox really do make life more interesting. They've been begging you and Robby to take them to a Steelers game for the past week. While you're all for it, Michael is hesitant about it.
Your older brother Jack isn't helping matters cause he told Michael that if he didn't want to take the kiddos to the game, Unkky Jacky would. He knows Michael wishes to have these first kinds of experiences with his kids. You know Jack would never actually do anything to upset Michael like robbing him of taking the kiddos to their first NFL game.
Michael finally relented and agreed to take the kiddos to their first NFL game after their 100th time asking this week. The game is this coming Sunday, it's the home opener, and the Steelers are facing the Seattle Seahawks since your husband wanted to get it done and over with. While you're incredibly excited to be going to the game as a whole family, you're dreading the cost of the tickets, the rowdy crowd including you and your husband and your brother swearing in front of your kids, and then the kids getting bored just sitting in their seats.
Something the kiddos don't know is that you bought them jerseys for the game. You, Michael, and your brother have your own collection of jerseys so you didn't need to order any new ones for you guys. The kiddos are getting matching TJ Watt jerseys which you did on purpose because you know that Michael and you also have TJ Watt jerseys so you can match the kiddos. Whether their Uncle Jacky decides to match jerseys with you guys is up to him.
The tickets are bound to be nosebleed seats unless by some miracle Michael can find a deal this close to gameday or he recruits Jack to use his veteran status and connections to get better seats; but so help you if he does use your brother like that the leg better never be brought up or you're making Michael sleep on the couch. Sure you guys can crack jokes at your brother's expense because it's not malicious but he and you hate when someone tries to use his leg as a reason to soothe their guilty conscience.
When Sunday rolled around, any chance you had of sleeping in was ruined by your two little hooligans coming into your room and jumping on your bed. You groan and roll over trying to bury your head into your mattress or your husband's side. Michael's just laughing because you asked for this to happen.
“Stevie, Maddox, can't you go bother Uncle Jacky? He's sleeping in the guest room.”
Then your brother hobbles into your room with his crutches.
“Too late for that, they already got me up!”
This makes you groan even louder.
“Who said you could be in our room Jack?”
“Shut up Michael.”
“Ooh my full first name, how original.”
“Would you two quit or take your bickering to the living room? Some of us are trying to sleep.”
“Mama mama mama!”
“Mommy it's time to get up.”
“Michael Joseph Robinavitch, they're up early, they're your children.”
“Yes dear. Come on Nix and Dox, let's give mama a couple more minutes and we'll go get breakfast started.”
Maddox and Stevie got off your bed and started running towards the living room. Michael got out of bed and rushed after them so they couldn't make a huge ass mess or get into things they aren't supposed to. You rolled back over and noticed your brother was still standing in your room.
“Either go help Mikey with your sidekicks or get your ass in bed next to me. I need my beauty sleep.”
“Well then you better never get out of bed if you need sleep to make you beautiful.”
“Go away Jack. I'll call mom and tell her that her grown ass son is picking on her precious baby girl.”
“Good try sis but mom already knows what you're like. The only ones getting away with murder in her eyes are your children.”
“I hate when you're right.. Now seriously go help Mikey with Nix and Dox or get your ass up here and cuddle with me like you used to when you were a good big brother and less of a jackass.”
“I see what you did there. And of course I used to cuddle with you back in the day because people thought you were my kid and it was easier to pick up women when I had a little wingman.”
“Eww gross.”
“My thoughts exactly when mom and dad said they were having you when I was 18.”
You took Michael's pillow and threw it at Jack without even looking. You knew it hit him in the stomach when you heard one of his crutches fall.
“That's 100 points for me!”
“You're such a child.”
“Look who's talking.”
Jack groaned but you knew he picked the pillow up and his crutch. Then you heard his crutches getting closer to the bed and felt when he sat down next to you. You scooted over in bed and Jack moved to lay down next to you.
“You excited for the game today?”
“I am but I'm more excited for the kids because they've been begging to go. You gonna match the family and wear a TJ Watt jersey?”
“Yeah I am. You guys wearing black or yellow jerseys?”
“Black.”
“Okay good then I picked the right one to pack.”
“What the yellow one?!”
“No doofus I packed the black jersey.”
“You going to be okay on your leg today?”
“Is that someone showing actual care to their older brother?!”
“Forget I asked and suffer then.”
Jack rolled over and put you in a headlock and messed up your hair.
“Fuck okay I'm sorry. Let me go.”
Jack lets you go and you punch him in the stomach. He groans and grabs your arm.
“Let go of me!”
“No. Apologize for punching me.”
“I'm sorry you're a little bitch.”
Jack grabs your other arm too.
“Fuck. Fine. I'm sorry for punching you in the stomach but to be fair you put me in a headlock.”
Jack releases your arms and pulls you into his side. You poke him in the side but lay there next to your brother.
“Good thing the kids don't ever see you be mean to me, I don't need them to start getting ideas about fighting with each other, especially Maddox thinking because he's the baby he can take on Stevie and not feel any consequences for it. But also they would probably try to fight you to protect me.”
“I'm aware of how protective they are of their mama. They don't care when I annoy Mike though.”
“I don't care when you annoy my husband until it gets to a point where I have to butt in and separate you two.”
“You know you love us.”
“Unfortunately.”
“Love you too bub. Now come on. I'm starving so get your ass out of bed.”
“You could've gone out to the kitchen with your niece and nephew and let me lay here in peace.”
“Where's the fun in that?!”
“I forgot you enjoy making my life miserable.”
“Any chance I get.”
“Yeah yeah fuck off Jack. I'm up so let's go.”
You shoved Jack so he almost fell off the bed. He managed to catch himself and grabbed one of his crutches and jabbed you with it in your thigh. You pushed it away and waited until Jack got fully off of the bed before you struck again.
You got out of bed and waited patiently as Jack hobbled down the hallway. Once you were in the living room, you saw Stevie and Maddox. Maddox came running over to you and you picked him up. Stevie didn't want to be left out so she came running too. You carefully picked her up on your side.
“Little monsters, mama has a mission for you.”
“A mission?”
“Yes. Your Uncle Jacky was being mean to me so I need you to wait until he sits down and run away with his crutches. Do you think you can do that?”
Stevie and Maddox looked at you with wicked grins and nodded their heads. You gave each of them a forehead kiss and sat them back on the ground. They went running towards the dining room. You walked towards the kitchen where you could tell your husband was cooking because it smelled delicious. You crept up behind him and wrapped your arms around his middle and tried to look over his shoulder at what he was making.
“Good morning sunshine. I see you finally decided to join us in the land of living. I don't know why you're trying to look over my shoulder when I know you're far too short to see.”
“What is this?! Pick on me day?! First Jack and now you.”
“What'd Jack do?”
“Put me in a headlock, messed up my hair, grabbed ahold of my arms and wouldn't let go, and he jabbed me in the thigh with his crutch.”
“And what did you do to your brother?”
“Nothing.”
“Darling, you and I both know that's a lie.”
“Fuck off Michael you're supposed to be on my side.”
“I am on your side angel but you like to antagonize Jack.”
“I might've thrown a pillow at him, called him a bitch, punched him in the stomach, poked him in the side, and tried to shove him off the bed.”
“See. You're making my point for me. You're in your early 30s and Jack's almost 50 and you two still argue like he's a teenager and you're a toddler.”
“Are you sure you don't love him more than me?!”
“While he is my brother just not blood related, you're my wife and I will always love you more.”
“Good and just know I've sent our kids to do my dirty work.”
“Why?!”
“Because Jack loves them and won't be expecting it.”
“I guess that's true. Now why don't you go round everyone up in the dining room and we'll eat breakfast and then get ready for the game afterwards.”
“Sounds good to me but I would like a kiss first.”
You heard Michael shut the stove off since he was right and you can't see over his shoulder. Once the stove was off, he turned around in your arms so he was facing you. You smiled up at him. He shook his head but you could see the small smirk on his face. He leaned down and kissed you. You pulled him in closer to you since your arms are around his middle. He smiled into your kiss and you bit his bottom lip and pulled away from the kiss.
“I'll go round up our monsters and Jack.”
“Thank you darling.”
“I love you handsome.”
“I love you too gorgeous. Now go.”
“Yes sir.”
“Keep that up angel and I'll show you a good time later.”
“Promise?”
“I promise. As long as we're not all tired out after the game.”
“Shit knowing our kids, they're going to want to sleep in our bed.”
“We'll just con them off onto Jack.”
“Now there's my smart and sexy husband. I love the way you think.”
“Get going before the food gets cold.”
You roll your eyes and let Michael go. You exit the kitchen and walk into the dining room. Jack and your kids are already sitting down at the table.
“Well you just made my job easy. Thanks! Oh and babes you know what to do.”
“Mama?”
“Now?”
“Yes now, Maddox and Stevie.”
Your kids get up from their chairs and each grab one of Jack's crutches. Then they take off running out of the dining room with the crutches in their hands.
“Are you serious?”
“I have no idea what you're talking about Jack.”
“Why would you make them run away with my crutches?”
“Payback.”
“Dox and Nix bring Uncle Jacky his crutches back.”
“No don't kiddos. He's gotta apologize first.”
“I'm sorry I jabbed you in the thigh with my crutch.”
“And?”
“And nothing.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes I'm sure.”
“I just like making you sweat. Kids you can bring your uncle his crutches back. And come sit down for breakfast.”
The kids run back into the dining room holding Jack's crutches. They sit the crutches down by their uncle and then go back to their seats around the table. Then Michael finally comes into the dining room holding a platter of pancakes and syrup.
“About time, we were starving.”
“Don't start with me Jack.”
“Dada hungwy!”
“Yay daddy, pancakes!”
“It smells delicious honey.”
“See Jacky, why can't you be like your niece and nephew or even your sister?!”
“Because you wouldn't have me any other way.”
“You're so annoying, go find something else to eat, these aren't for you anymore. Anyways, kiddos I've got the pancakes right here. Do you want the chocolate chip pancakes or the regular buttermilk ones that you can add toppings to?”
In unison your children scream, “CHOCOLATE!!!!!”
You and Michael just shake your heads because you knew before he ever asked the question which pancakes they'd want. Michael sat the platter of pancakes down in the middle of the table. He dished up one chocolate chip pancake to Dox and two chocolate chip pancakes to Nix. You pour some of the syrup onto their plates for them because you don't want them to make a gigantic mess. You saw out of the corner of your eye, Jack take 2 of the chocolate chip pancakes onto his own plate.
Once the kids are situated and chowing down, you dish yourself up two of the regular buttermilk pancakes. Michael dished himself up 3 of the buttermilk pancakes and loaded his with syrup.
“Hey honey, what do you have for toppings in the kitchen?”
“Oh shit, I knew I was forgetting something. I'll go grab it in a second but, because I know you and what time of year it is, I heated up some of the canned apple pie filling we had in the pantry.”
“Go get it and I'll make it worth your while after the kids go to bed.”
“Not in front of our pancakes!”
“Fuck off Jack.”
“Little ears are listening.”
“And they hear me and their father swear all the time and their annoying uncle does too and all of their fun family from the Pitt. We try to tone it down but they never seem to notice. Now eat your pancakes and shut up.”
Jack mimes shutting up and starts shoveling bites of his pancakes into his mouth. Michael just stares between you two and is trying desperately to not start laughing. Your kids are too busy eating their sugar filled breakfast to notice the bickering between their mama and their uncle. Michael gets up from the table and heads back into the kitchen to get you the warm apple pie filling. You just sit there and glare at your brother until Michael gets back.
Michael sets the bowl with the apple pie filling down in front of you. You pull him down into a quick kiss and then let go of his shirt. He smiles and you smack his ass as he walks back around the table to his chair which only causes him to blush. Jack makes fake gagging noises from your left. You just start scooping the apple pie filling onto your pancakes and subtly flip your brother off with your left hand (as if you're scratching your nose).
The rest of breakfast went by without any issues. There was no more bickering. It was all quiet minus the sounds of you all chewing your pancakes and cutting up the pancakes on the plates. The kids were done eating first and needed baths to get all of the chocolate and syrup off of their hands and faces. Your brother volunteered to give them their baths which you appreciated and the kiddos were on board for that because they love trying to see who can make Jack the most soaked.
You were tasked with cleaning up the dining room table and loading up the dishwasher with all of the dirty dishes. It really didn't take very long. You just rinsed the dishes off, put them in the dishwasher, put the soap pod in, and started it up. Putting away the leftovers was also easy since there were hardly any left. They got put in ziploc bags and stored in the fridge. You ate all the apple pie filling so you didn't need to get out a Tupperware bowl for any remainder of that.
Once everything was cleaned up and put away and your kids were in the bathtub splashing around by the sounds of it, you went back to your room to get dressed for the game. Michael was already in your room getting dressed when you walked in. He was shirtless and in his very loved cargo pants. You couldn't help but whistle at your husband because he's fucking handsome and looks like sin on legs.
“Like what you see, angel?”
“I always do honey but damn you look good.”
“I'm not even wearing a shirt.”
“I know. If you'd take your cargos off, I'd whistle even more.”
“You just like me for my body.”
“Oh baby do I especially when your body is pressed against me. But alas I love you for all of you. You are my incredibly smart, sexy, funny, and talented husband. More importantly, you're an amazing father to our children. And speaking of children, I have something for you.”
Michael turns around to look at you as he's putting his TJ Watt jersey on. He's confused and you can tell by the way his eyebrows are raised, but you've had a huge secret you've been meaning to tell him. You walk over to your dresser and open the middle drawer and pull out an ultrasound photo you've had stashed in there for a week.
“Close your eyes and stick your hands out.”
“Do I have to?”
“Michael!”
“Alright darling I'm closing my eyes, quit full first naming me.”
“I will when you learn to listen. Now are they closed?”
“Yes gorgeous, my eyes are closed.”
You turn around and walk back to where Michael's standing next to your shared closet. His hands are out like you asked, so you place the ultrasound photo in his palms. Then you back up a little bit.
“Go ahead and open your eyes.”
Michael opens his eyes and holds the ultrasound up. He looked at the ultrasound, then to you, back to the ultrasound, and finally back to you. His eyes are watering up.
“We're having another baby!?”
“Yeah Mikey, we're having another baby.”
“Does anyone else know?”
“Other than my friend Paige up in Obstetrics who did the ultrasound for me, no. It's just you and me. I figured we could tell Jack and the kids when the time's right.”
Michael sits the ultrasound down on the top of his dresser and pulls you into a bruising kiss. He places his hands on your stomach. You can only smile into the kiss and try to wipe away his tears. You eventually have to pull away because you should be getting dressed right now.
“Fuck I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
“I'm so incredibly happy right now.”
“I know honey. And we'll celebrate later, but for now I'm gonna get dressed for the game and you should probably go help Jack because you know how our little monsters are.”
“Yeah you're right. I'll go help him and fuck I can't believe soon it'll be 3 little monsters instead of 2.”
“Remember this stays between us for now.”
“You got it darling.”
“Thank you honey. Now get going. It's oddly quiet out there.”
“Ah shit. Alright I'm going. Let's hope your brother is still in one piece.”
You couldn't help but to laugh your ass off because Jack's almost never in one piece thanks to his prosthetic but if he still has his leg off he'll be in one piece. Michael just smiled seeing you laugh and the joy on your face before he walked out of your bedroom to go see what the kids were doing. You quickly changed into a pair of black ripped jeans and your TJ Watt jersey. You grabbed your Steelers hat out of the closet and started to walk back out to the living room to see what everyone was up to.
The sound of laughter hit your ears immediately and you couldn't help but smile. You walk into the living room and see your kids, now dressed in their jerseys and pants, playing keep away with their uncle's leg and their dad's sneakers. Every time Jack or Michael got close enough to steal their respected items back, your kids would quickly throw them to the other. You decide to stand up against the wall and watch because it's quality entertainment.
Everyone in the living room was made aware of your presence when you couldn't help but laugh at Maddox, who was army crawling through Michael's legs whilst holding Jack's prosthetic in a death grip. They all stopped moving and turned to look at you.
“Now what are you all doing? Jack you're not even dressed yet!”
“I couldn't get dressed, your children stole my leg after they soaked my pajamas when I gave them their baths. I was able to get them dressed and went into my room to change and who should follow me…your hooligans.”
“One that's not your room. It's the guest room. Two why didn't you send them to the living room to play after you got them dressed?”
“It's basically my room since I'm over here a lot. And I did send them to the living room, but they followed me anyway.”
“Maddox, will you please give Uncle Jacky his leg please. Stevie give your daddy his shoes. I want you two to sit on the couch or the floor and play nicely until your uncle is finished getting dressed. Only well behaved babies get to go to the Steelers game.”
“So Uncle Jacky isn't going?”
Your husband couldn't contain his laughter at Stevie's quick smartass comment. You couldn't either and Jack just glared at you both.
“That was a good one Nix. However your Uncle Jacky is going to the game with us and for your quick wit, you get to sit next to him.”
“Mama I wanna sit by Unkky Jack.”
“That's very sweet of you Maddox. What do you think Jack? Which kid would you like to sit by?”
“I'll sit next to my sidekick.”
“There you go Dox, Uncle Jacky said you could sit by him.”
“Uncle Jacky! You don't wanna sit by me?!”
“That's not true my little rockstar. How about you two switch every time we get up for the bathroom or to get a snack? Would that be okay?”
Stevie and Maddox looked at each other as if they could telepathically communicate and both of them nodded their heads.
“Okay!”
“Otay.”
“Great! I'm gonna go get dressed. I'll be back in like 5 minutes. Don't miss me too much!”
“They're not going to miss you Jack. Go get dressed already.”
“Shut up Michael, they will too. Won't you kiddos?”
Maddox and Stevie both nodded their heads and then went and sat down on the couch like you'd told them to do minutes earlier. Michael was sitting next to them putting his new balances on.
“See! They love me unlike you two.”
“Jack go get dressed.”
“I'm going. I'm going.”
Jack sat in the recliner and put his prosthetic leg on before getting up and walking into his room in your house. You turned to look at your kids. They were just sitting quietly on the couch still. You noticed that Maddox had on cargo pants and Stevie had on black jeans. Jack managed to have your kids match you and Michael perfectly. Are you that predictable?
“Who wants to get their shoes on? And do you have hats you wanna wear?”
“Mama mama mama spidey shoes?”
“Dox wants to wear his light up Spiderman shoes. Can you go get those out of his room Mikey?”
“Absolutely!”
“Mommy can I have my vans?”
“You sure can baby girl. Those are by the front door. You wanna run and go get them and come back to the couch so we can get them on.”
Nix just nodded her head yes and got up off the couch.
“Hey honey while you're getting Dox's shoes, can you grab both of them their Pitt hats? Just get Dox's bucket hat and Nixie's baseball hat that's covered in all of the yellow and black hearts.”
“You got it darling. I'll be right back with Dox's shoes and then both of their hats. Do you need anything from our room?”
“Nope I should have everything. Thanks babe.”
Michael got off the couch and walked by you. He leaned down and gave you a kiss before walking down the hallway to go get those couple of things. Stevie ran back to the couch holding her black and white checkered slip on vans. She sat down on the couch and stuck her feet out at you as if you're meant to put her shoes on for her.
You bent down and took Stevie's shoes and slid them on her feet for her. Dox was playing with Stevie's hair while he waited. You could hear the tell tale signs of your brother walking down the hallway but you could also hear your husband. Those two were talking about the upcoming game. You could hear Jack bitching about Aaron Rodgers and damnit you wanted to complain too so they need to hurry up and get back to the living room.
Stevie got up the minute she saw her daddy. Dox waited patiently on the couch for his shoes. Michael walked over to the couch and crouched down to put Dox's shoes on for him. Stevie was making Jack put her hat on for her so that her braid would go through the hole in the back nicely. You took Dox's bucket hat and put it on his head while Michael was putting Dox's shoes on for him. After Maddox was situated, he got up off the couch and ran towards Jack.
You and Michael shook your heads but headed towards the chaos trio. Everyone was ready to go now. Jack was wearing essentially the same outfit as Michael and Maddox, only he didn't put a hat on and had his terrible towel sticking out of his pocket and had his combat boots on like he always does. Maddox was jumping up and down and wanted Jack to pick him up.
“Are you guys ready to go?”
“Absolutely brother.”
“Please babe.”
“Yay Steewers!”
“Yes daddy.”
“Alright everyone out to the Tahoe.”
You should've figured that you'd be taking your car since that's where the car seats are and it's big enough to fit all of you comfortably. You're only a little annoyed because you know you're going to be stuck in the back seat because your brother surely won't climb back there and Michael is always uncomfortable back there. Like expected, Michael grabbed his set of keys to your SUV and you all single filed out of the house after him. You were the last one out of the house so you locked the front door.
By the time you reached your car, Jack was sitting comfortably in your passenger seat and Michael was strapping Maddox into his seat. Stevie was waiting for you since you'd have to slide into the middle seat and you could buckle her in once you were settled. You climbed into the backseat and Stevie followed you. Michael walked around the car after strapping Maddox into his seat and shut the door next to Stevie before getting in the driver’s seat. You strapped Stevie into her seat and put your seat belt on. It feels like this day is never going to end and you haven't even made it to the game yet.
The drive to Heinz Field, you'll never call it Acrisure Stadium, was relatively peaceful except the kids were bouncing up and down in their seats from excitement. Since Jack's got his handicap placard, you were able to pre-buy a parking pass that was for a lot super close to the field. It's also why you left for the game as early as you all did because if you want a decent spot, you need to get there early.
Michael pulled your car into the lot and security scanned your parking pass and let you all through. Jack put his placard up on the rear view window. Michael parked the Tahoe and you unbuckled both of your kids. Michael opened the back driver's side door and Jack opened the back passenger side door. They had to open the doors because of the child protection locks you've got on both doors. Stevie jumped out of her seat and got out of the car. Maddox stuck his arms up for Michael to pick him up, which he did, and he got out of the car. You crawled out of the door that Stevie left through.
Stevie was holding Jack's hand and Maddox didn't like that he was missing out so he demanded that Michael put him on the ground so he could hold Jack's hand too. Michael sat Dox on the ground and Maddox ran over to Jack who already had his hand out ready for Maddox to take. That's fine with you because now you can interlock your hand and arm with Michael.
You all walk over to Heinz Field and Michael's got all of the tickets on his phone so you guys crowd around him. You don't want to lose anyone, not that Jack would ever let your kids wander off when he's holding onto them, but the crowd in general for entering the building is condensed so you're being extremely cautious. Going through security was fine except Jack had to show his prosthetic leg but other than that you guys were let in with no issues. A few of the security guys recognized you guys as being doctors from PTMC, which probably helped you move through without any hassle.
Once you'd all made it through security and had your tickets scanned, the kids wanted to go look in the pro shop and your brother was more than happy to take them. You're all for it because then they can spend Jack's money. You and Michael just follow behind the chaos trio into the pro shop. The kids ran straight to the toys and Jack had to try and catch up to them.
“Unkky Jacky!!! Twcetops!!!”
“You want the triceratops Dox?”
“Yes pwease!”
“You got it little man.”
“Uncle Jacky, can I get the dragon?”
“You sure can, my little rockstar. I'll also be getting you both your very first terrible towels as long as that's cool with your daddy.”
“Yeah Jack that's fine, but brother you don't have to get them the plushes.”
Maddox and Stevie turned around so quickly to look at their daddy and they gave him a death stare. You knew they were thinking just wtf is wrong with you old man, don't think about taking our toys.
“Nevermind buy them whatever they want.”
Your kids went back to smiling and looking around the store. Jack grabbed two basic terrible towels to add to his basket that's got the two stuffed animals in it. The kiddos decided they didn't want anything else in the shop, which you're sure Jack is glad of. He went ahead and paid for their new plushies and the towels. He had the cashier put them in separate bags so the kids could each have their own bags.
You all left the pro shop and made your way to the 100 level where your seats are, and you're definitely going to ask how much these cost because you know it's not a pretty number. Michael went up to one of the food kiosks and grabbed 5 waters, all of which were distributed out. The kids put theirs in their bags.
Michael doesn't want to get food yet because you all had breakfast before you left the house and it's ridiculous just what they charged you for food at these events. After grabbing the waters, he led all of you to your section. You guys are in section 138 row EE. It's way closer to the field than you needed to be.
“Michael Joseph Robinavitch, how much did these tickets cost?”
“They're on the house.”
“Now how the hell did you manage that because these normally go for over a grand each.”
“Someone in the head office at the hospital owed Jack and I a huge favor.”
“Jack?”
“They knew they owed us because Gloria is always riding our asses and after the Pittfest MCI let's just say they can't afford to lose us.”
“Well then we're about to have a great time on the hospital's dime. I love it.”
“Not the hospital's dime exactly but pretty close. These are someone's family's season tickets.”
“And they willingly gave up the home opener game?”
“Yep!”
“We threatened to quit if they didn't.”
“You better be joking Jack.”
“Okay. I'm joking.”
“Jack!”
“I'm kidding, I promise.”
“I'll believe you this one time because the kids are right here.”
“Mommy?”
“Yeah Nix?”
“Can we sit down now?”
“Absolutely!”
Michael walked into the row first, you follow, then Stevie, then Maddox, and lastly Jack. Jack needs the end aisle seat to be comfortable with his leg. You all sit down. The kiddos get out their new terrible towels from their bags. Jack takes his out of his pocket and explains to them how they work.
You zone that out in favor of looking at your husband. Michael could tell you were looking at him, so he turned to face you with a shit eating grin on his face that you couldn't help but kiss off his face. Michael was still smiling when you pulled out of the kiss. He stuck his hand out for you to hold and you took it in yours.
“I love you honey. Thank you for today. Seeing the kids so happy makes me incredibly happy.”
“I love you too darling. I'd do anything to make our kids happy, and just wait until our littlest one gets to experience the game out of the womb.”
“Shhh. Don't say it so loud, remember it's a secret.”
“For how much longer?”
“Maybe a month?”
“Babe, I'm not sure I'll last a week without exploding.”
“Let me get through my doctor's appointment and then it's fair game okay?”
“Deal.”
You both turned to look at your kids who were sitting animatedly talking their uncle's ears off. All you could do was smile and think that your husband was right. You can't wait to do this all over again when your littlest one arrives.
“Now the most important lesson I'm going to teach you about football monsters is that we hate Aaron Rodgers. It doesn't matter that he's our quarterback. None of us wanted him and we're still mad that he beat us in the Superbowl when he was on the Green Bay Packers. So if you hear someone say something positive about him, you boo them, understand?”
“Jack, are you corrupting the children again?”
“Nope. I'm teaching them the right way to cheer.”
“Alright and babies your uncle is right. We don't root for Aaron even if he's our quarterback. We're still mad that they let Justin Fields go because he was showing great promise. And it's not in Mike Tomlin we trust. He should've been replaced ages ago.”
“It also doesn't help that Justin’s not an arrogant asshole like Rodgers. And Tomlin has needed be go for years but fuck if the owners had brains enough to do it.”
“Mama what's an asshole?”
“Jack! Little ears damnit.”
“Maddox buddy don't repeat everything I say. And you just swore too with a worse swear word might I add.”
“Wait, I know what it is?!”
“You better not know what it is, Stevie?”
“It's what you call Uncle Jacky when he's being mean to you.”
“I'm offended. Does your mama really do that?”
“Yes! But so does daddy.”
“Stevie James! Don't throw me under the bus like that. But we absolutely do because you're an ass sometimes.”
Jack's just sitting in his seat smirking because the kids really are his sidekicks. You smack Michael's shoulder with the hand that's not currently holding his.
“There’s going to be no more swearing out of any of us for the remainder of the game. Got it?”
“Sure sis, but you know you're going to break that within the first 10 minutes of the game.”
“Babies close your eyes.”
Your kids closed their eyes and you flipped Jack off which just made him burst out laughing.
“You can open your eyes again monsters.”
The kiddos opened their eyes and looked back and forth between their laughing dumbass uncle and their mama. Michael is trying his hardest not to laugh too. You were eventually saved from your embarrassment because it's almost kick off time and the crowd around you was getting loud and hyped up which amped up your kiddos. They were bouncing in their seats.
The Seattle Seahawks were getting the ball first and that made you happy because you always want the ball to start the second half. The opening drive for the Seahawks was very blah until Darnold, the quarterback, threw a 21 yd pass to Horton and scored a touchdown. The crowd around all of you were booing, so naturally you could hear your kids start booing too which caused you, Michael, and Jack to join in. Even louder boos could be heard when their extra point kick was good.
The Steelers got the ball and there were some short passes and rushing attempts. Your section of the stands cheered particularly loudly when there was a 5 yd penalty against Seattle and your kids seeing everyone waving their terrible towels tried their best to wave theirs too. This drive you had to settle for a field goal, which caused groans to echo including your own, but at least there are points on the board.
The kickoff to Seattle went for 64 yds. Everyone was on their feet yelling and cheering and waving their towels because Sam Darnold threw an interception on the first play after the kick off. Jalen Ramsey intercepted the ball that was meant for Cooper Kupp. He made it two yards before he was tackled.
Aaron Rodgers couldn't complete a damn pass to save his life and had to rely on the running yards to get them to field goal range so they could capitalize on the interception. The field goal attempt was good but you could hear people around you bitching about Rodgers and you really wanted to join in but you also didn't want to prove your brother right and start swearing in front of your kids.
The first quarter was over and it was time to start the second quarter. Maddox started getting antsy and demanding a snack which made Stevie want a snack too. Jack begrudgingly got up and took your kids to go get something to eat. He made sure both of them were holding his hands before he called over to you and Michael.
“Do you two want anything?”
“I'm good brother, thanks.”
“Yeah Jack, bring me back a couple of those sliders.”
“I'll think about it. Alright I'm gonna take these two. Let me know what I missed.”
“You got it. Thank you!”
The chaos trio walked up the stairs and out of view. You turned back to the game. You watched as Seattle missed their field goal which erupted the crowd in the stands. Then it was punt after punt for the next few drives. Seattle had to punt once but Pitt punted twice. Your brother and kids finally came back holding a crap ton of food. Your kids handed the food to you and Michael so they could sit back down.
“That better not all be for them Jack.”
“Of course not. The sliders are for you. And even though Mikey said he didn't want any, I got him a couple sliders too.”
“Thanks Jack.”
“Thanks bub! But are those perogies I see?”
“You see nothing. These are for me and your children.”
“Can I have one?!”
“Stevie and Maddox, should we let your mama have one of the perogies?”
“No.”
“Nuh uh.”
“The jury has spoken.”
“Betrayed by my old blood. I see how it is.”
The kiddos happily munched on their perogies right in front of your face. You pouted at them and turned back to your sliders, which didn't look as appetizing anymore. Michael was happily munching on the sliders that he didn't ask for but still appreciated. You took a bite out of a crab cake slider and arguably it was delicious and went back to paying attention to the game.
You started paying attention just in time to see Seattle's Darnold throw another interception. This time it was caught by Herbig, who ran it for 41 yards before being tackled. If you guys weren't munching on food, you would've been up on your feet hooting and hollering. All you could do was wave your terrible towels since that required the least amount of work whilst you ate.
Everyone was up on their feet hoping you could capitalize on Seattle's fuck up and was thrilled when Aaron Rodgers threw a completed short pass to Metcalf for the touchdown. They went for the 2 point conversion. It was good! Aaron's pass attempt to Washington was completed. You were no longer holding your sliders, having sat them down on your seat so you were yelling and your kids were jumping up and down yelling and waving their towels. It was very fucking adorable to see their excitement.
After Seattle got the ball back and couldn't do anything with it, they punted it. The Steelers got the ball to just let Aaron get sacked and the first half ended. A lot of people around you were laughing at Aaron being sacked and you were no better because you were also laughing. It's halftime though so you all finished eating the snacks that Jack had bought and vibed to the music playing in the stadium. Maddox and Stevie switched seats since Maddox got to sit next to Unkky Jacky for the first half so it was Stevie's turn to sit by her Uncle Jacky.
When the third quarter started, you could feel a shift in the air and knew it was going to get rowdy here soon. The Steelers got the ball to start the half but couldn't do anything with it. They had 6 plays for just under 4 minutes and could only go 19 yards. Talk about disappointment. To add insult to injury though, Seattle scored a touchdown on their next drive. They had 9 plays for 5 minutes of gametime and went 80 yards down the field. Their point after was good too.
The Steelers next drive started out promising. Rodgers had thrown a short pass to Warren who managed to run 65 yards, but then he couldn't complete his next pass to Hall. The next time Rodgers threw the ball for 3rd & Goal. He was aiming for Freiermuth but it was intercepted by Seattle's Kendrick. The crowd around you erupted into swear words. You could hear Jack yelling but he had the right idea to cover Stevie's ears whilst he was yelling. You covered Maddox's ears, so you and Michael could start yelling too.
“How fucking hard is it to throw that damn ball!”
“Retire already you worthless sack of shit.”
“Sit your ass back down on the bench!”
“Someone get him out of there! This fucking loser has got to go.”
“Aaron's got to go! Just keep laying his ass out Seattle. Let us have our backup!”
“Fire Tomlin too while you're at it.”
When the yelling died down, you uncovered Maddox's ears and Jack uncovered Stevie's ears.
“Dada?”
“Yeah Dox?”
“Why wowd?”
“Because our quarterback is terrible.”
“Oh. Why ears?”
“That's so you couldn't hear mama, me, Unkky Jacky or anyone else say naughty words.”
“Otay Dada.”
You didn't expect that to be such an easy explanation but kudos to Michael for easing Maddox's worries. You were all focused on the game since it was almost time for the 4th quarter. It's showtime. It's either put up or shut up and knowing the Steelers they're gonna choke and end up losing. You can just feel it in your gut. The 4th quarter started in the middle of Seattle's drive. With a little under 13 minutes left of gametime Seattle's kicker Myers kicked a 54 yd field goal and it was good.
You and your brother got up and started screaming at the kickoff. Michael tried his best to get you to sit down. Myers had kicked the ball and it then turned into a fumble recovery in the end zone by Seattle's George Holani for a Seattle touchdown. You've never personally seen this happen before so you were pissed.
“Fire the special teams coordinator because what the fuck was that?!”
“Tomlin's got to go!”
“Open your fucking eyes!”
“Does nobody know how to work as a fucking team?! Goddammit!”
“You need to get your heads out of your asses!!”
Someone behind you had the gall to speak up and it made Michael and Jack angry.
“Look bitch if you don't like our team, why even come to the game?! Sit your fat ass down.”
“You got it brother. But when you're done. You're gonna have to cover their ears.”
You both do as you're told and then your normally gentle giant of a husband stands up and turns to face whoever just called you a fat ass.
“Listen here you limp dick motherfucker. You're not about to insult my wife in front of me and our kids. She's a passionate fan who gets over excited sometimes yeah. She has every right to cheer and yell just like everyone else. I heard you yelling earlier about some of the play calls and the fouls and Aaron Rodgers. And another thing is that my wife has an amazing ass. She is not fat, she's pregnant you stupid fuck. I hope if something were to happen to you or your family that you get taken to Presby because I'll refuse to work on you if you end up at our hospital.”
You can't believe your husband just told everyone around you including your brother that you're pregnant. Michael nodded his head towards Jack.
“Mikey, we'll be having a chat later about you and my sister keeping secrets from me. Anyways back to you, you spineless dickless asshat. To reiterate my brother in law, go to Presby because I'm not working on you and neither will my sister who you insulted just now. I didn't fight for our country and lose my leg saving people as a combat medic to come home and have someone insult my sister in front of my face just because her and I are very vocal football fans. On top of that, you just insulted a pregnant lady who's sitting next to her two children, so even if she was a bit bigger it wouldn't fucking matter because nobody's bodies are perfect. Now watch the rest of the game that we're bound to lose by the looks of it and keep your fucking mouth shut.”
“Holy shit you three are the attendings at PTMC?! You saved my daughter last year after Pittfest.”
“Yeah we are and you just seriously fucked up.”
“I'm so sorry ma'am. I'm just frustrated that we're losing too. Please accept my sincerest apologies.”
“Yeah sure, no problem. And don't listen to them, we'd still work on you and I'm glad we could save your daughter last year. Now please try to enjoy the rest of the game.”
You turned around and looked at both Jack and Michael with a look that clearly said to let it go. You also uncovered Maddox's ears and Jack uncovered Stevie’s.
“Mommy?”
“Yeah sweetheart?”
“Why were daddy and Uncle Jacky so mad?”
“It's nothing baby girl.”
“Mama?”
“Yeah buddy?”
“Mean man?”
“Kind of.”
Your sweet innocent children turned around in their seats and flipped the man off.
“Stevie and Maddox! We don't do that. Who taught you the middle finger?”
“Uncle Jacky.”
“Unkky Jacky!”
“Jack!”
“I'm not even sorry right now.”
“Don't set a bad fucking example. Watch the game.”
“Mama naughty.”
“I know I said a naughty word but you don't repeat it baby boy. Let's watch the game.”
Since the altercation is over and you're all facing forwards watching the game again, you let out a sigh you didn't know you were holding in. You'd all turned around to watch your kicker Boswell kick a 45 yard field goal and it was good! Now the Steelers are only down by one score with about 7 minutes left in the game. You should be hopeful that they'll turn the game around but you've been a Steelers fan for far too long to know better than that.
Your crew remains entirely too quiet for your liking especially since the crowd around you is being loud and boisterous. It took 4 minutes for Seattle to hammer the nail into the coffin since they scored another touchdown and their extra point kick was good. You looked to your right and saw the sad look upon your kiddos faces. Their frowns only deepened when almost 3 minutes later Aaron Rodgers threw another interception. It was meant for Austin but Seattle's Bryant caught it instead.
You look at your husband and can tell he's thinking the same thing you are. It's time to go home. The game is basically over even though there's a minute left, you don't need to watch anymore. You look over at Jack and he's already starting to stand up.
“Come on babies, follow Uncle Jacky. We're going home.”
Your kiddos got up quietly and followed their uncle. Their bags holding their plushies and discarded terrible towels were on their back. You got up, as did Michael, and you both followed after them. A lot of people were also trying to make their exit, so Jack was holding Stevie's hand and Maddox's hand. You're holding Michael's hand and Maddox's other hand. Your family made it out of Heinz Field and walked across the street back to your car.
You got your kiddos strapped into their seats and they got their new stuffed animals out of their bags and clutched them to their chests.
“Did my babies have a good time?”
“Was otay mama.”
“Wish we woulda won mommy.”
“I know my monsters but unfortunately you can't win them all. Did you like spending time as a whole family though?”
“Yeah mama. Unkky Jacky was fun.”
“It was fun until that mean guy.”
“Don't worry about that guy my loves. Would you want to go to another game in the future?”
“When I'm older.”
“When you're older? How about you Dox, do you agree with your sissy?”
“Yes mama.”
“Who's ready for a nap?”
“Me!”
“Meeeeee.”
“Snuggle with your new animals and we'll all take a nap when we get home.”
Michael and Jack were sitting quietly in the front seat. Neither of them were wanting to bring up Michael's accidental pregnancy reveal. You weren’t about to say anything about it either. It took a little while to get out of the area surrounding the stadium because people were walking here, there, and everywhere.
When Michael finally got you guys away from the stadium, it was a quiet drive back to your house. The kiddos fell asleep like you expected them to because it took like 50 minutes to get home from the time you got in the suv to when Michael pulled your Tahoe into your driveway. So that you wouldn't wake the kids up, you unbuckled them and then Michael and Jack got them out and carried them inside the house that you unlocked since you had the keys.
Michael took a sleeping Stevie into his arms from Jack and he walked the kids down the hallway to your bedroom. He laid your kids down in the center of your bed, took off their shoes, and covered them with two throw blankets. Michael also made sure that their new stuffed toys were tucked in with them before coming back to a tense living room. You were sitting on the couch and Jack was sitting in the recliner adjacent to the couch. Neither of you were talking, you were just staring at each other. You didn't hear Michael come back to the living room until he spoke up.
“You can cut the tension in here with a knife.”
“Sit down Mikey, we need to have a chat about your big mouth for once and not Jack's.”
Michael sits down on the couch next to you. You stick your hand out to him to take so he knows you're not mad at him.
“So you're pregnant and you weren't going to tell me?!”
“We were absolutely going to tell you. I just told Mikey this morning about it. I wanted to wait until after I go see Paige again to make sure we're still good and everything is progressing as it should.”
“I'm sorry you found out in the middle of the game. That dude just pissed me off so bad because he insulted the love of my life, the beautiful mother to the chaos children you consider sidekicks. It just slipped out because if someone is going to call her fat and mean it, they're going to meet my fist.”
“Oh and I would've bailed you out if you did start swinging. It just hurt my feelings at that moment because you'd kept it a secret and then just dropped it like you did. However I understand you were defending my sister and I appreciate that because if you didn't, I'd be whopping your ass. Also I'm so excited for you guys. Baby Robinavitch #3. Your kids will be the chaos trio without me. We'll come up with a new nickname for us.”
“I'll always be standing up for my darling and our kids and I'd always stand up for you too brother.”
“I'm in the same boat. You guys mean the world to me. I love being the fun uncle to your babies and they've given me part of my life back after well you know.”
It's not explicitly mentioned but you know Jack means the death of his wife.
“I love you both and I appreciated you standing up for me but don't make a huge scene like that again because what would we tell the kids when they could potentially see their dad and uncle put in handcuffs?!”
“That's a fair point.”
“I let my emotions get the better of me. I'm sorry.”
“You're forgiven and now that Jack knows about the pregnancy, he needs to promise secrecy until my next appointment.”
“I promise to keep it to myself until after your appointment. And when it's time to tell our songbird and little man, let me know how I can help.”
“Thank you bub!”
“For you and Mikey, always! I love you guys.”
“Love you too brother.”
“You know I love you dickhead.”
“And she's back to normal. Oh shit I can't say anything to mom can I?!”
“Nope! It's a secret.”
“Shit!”
“Tell me about it, I can't tell Dana and that's gonna be so hard because she gets information out of me so easily.”
“I swear I'm going to have to duct tape both of your mouths shut.”
“Probably yeah.”
“Even though the game fucking sucked, I still had a nice time with you guys today. Thank you for letting me go along.”
“You're always welcome brother.”
“Yeah you're my free babysitter.”
“You're lucky you're pregnant. And now that I know that I feel extra bad about our play fighting this morning.”
“Oh don't worry about that. That was quality entertainment to start my day. You couldn't hurt me if you tried.”
“You remember that for further in the future when I surprise you.”
“Bring it on.”
“Okay you two, that's enough. But I will agree that today has been fairly interesting but it was full of love, chaos, and laughs and that's how it should always be.”
“I agree!”
“Seconded.”
“Hey Alexa, play We Are The Champions.”
*playing We Are The Champions by Queen on Spotify”
You let Freddie Mercury's vocals fill the room and you all relaxed into the furniture. If you happen to fall asleep on the couch on top of your husband that's no one's business, just like it's no one's business if Jack's talking in his sleep from the recliner. You're all the real winners in the end because you have each other and this family is a touchdown of love.
Michael Robinavitch Only Taglist: @order-of-river-phoenix
One: Sometimes you just like to annoy Robby and your kids Stevie and Maddox love pranking their dad too!!! Stevie, even though she's almost five, loves to video the pranks on your phone so her Uncle Jacky and Auntie Dana can see how embarrassed Michael gets.
Today you went to get your oil changed since you had the day off and you knew it would be the perfect time to play a small prank on your husband. You're not telling him about the oil change, you're just going to tell him about putting air in your tires. Your kids are going to be your little henchmen and really play up the prank.
Michael walked into your house after getting off work for the day, he leaned down for a kiss from you and was ambushed by Nix and Dox. He just laughed and picked the kiddos up in his arms and kissed them on their cheeks before setting them back down on the ground. You slide your phone to Stevie and she starts up the camera.
“Dada why we pay for air?”
“What do you mean Dox? Pay for air?”
“I had to stop by one of the auto shops and put air in the tires because the light came on and they charged me $50 for air.”
“I'm sorry, they did what? They charged you $50 to put air in your tires?! What's the name of the shop? I'll be heading down there first thing in the morning.”
“Is that a lot of money daddy?”
“Air for your tires is free Nixie and mama got scammed.”
“Babe. I didn't pay $50 for air in my tires.”
“You didn't?”
“No. I went and got the oil changed. I've got the receipt to prove it.”
“Oh thank goodness. Because that place was about to get a ear full from me!”
Your kiddos couldn't help but laugh and Robby started laughing and picked them back up. Stevie threw you your phone and you stopped the recording. Then you got up to join their group hug. Michael kissed your forehead as you wrapped your arms around your babies and the loveable giant you call your husband.
Two: This TikTok trend you're going to pull on your husband is your favorite one you've ever seen. You've even given your kids permission to call their daddy Michael for the duration of the video and that’s it.
You were up feeding the babes breakfast before you take them to daycare because both you and Michael have to work today. You've got your phone propped up against your water bottle and set to record as soon as your husband walks into the dining room.
“Good morning darling.”
“Good morning Michael.”
“Excuse me? What did you just call me?”
“What's the matter Michael? I called you by your name.”
“Why’re you calling me by my first name? You usually call me a nickname or Mikey if you wanna say my name.”
“There's nothing wrong. What do you want for breakfast?”
Then your kiddos chimed in and you've never been more proud of them!
“Michael sit by me!”
“No Michael by me!”
“Whoa whoa whoa my name is dada or daddy to you both. You don't call me Michael. Your mommy isn't supposed to call me that either unless she's mad at me.”
“Michael!!!!”
“Michael!!!!”
“No no no. I'm daddy or dada.”
Your husband is on the verge of tears, you can see that. You have to bite your lip to keep from laughing.
“Michael, what do you want for breakfast?”
“I want for you all to stop calling me Michael.”
“Michael that's not food.”
Then the tears break free from his eyes and you feel really bad that you guys made him cry. Michael sits down on the floor and tries to cover his face. You quickly shut the camera off because nobody needs to see this.
“Oh honey. It's just a prank. Kiddos go give your daddy some love.”
“Sorry daddy.”
“Sowwe dada.”
Your kids get up out of their chairs and go hug their daddy, their breakfast forgotten about on the table. Robby lets them hug him. Stevie tries to wipe her daddy's tears away and Maddox gives his dada a great big kiss to his cheek. You follow suit and go and sit on the floor next to your husband and kiddos. He turns his face to look at you and his eyes are still watery.
“We really are sorry honey. It was just supposed to be a joke, I didn't realize how much it would hurt you. I gave the kiddos permission to call you by your first name for the duration of the prank, they'll never say it again at least until they're unruly teenagers of course.”
“It just stung because you guys are the only ones who don't call me by my first name and damnit I've earned my daddy/dada title and every nickname you call me including Mikey. The only time you use my full name is when you're angry at me. I thought I'd done something wrong and I couldn't figure out what and then they started in and I…”
“Shh honey, it's okay. We've got you. We're very sorry. Right monsters?”
Your two kids just nod their head and try to snuggle deeper into their daddy's lap. He gives them a huge squeeze and rubs his hands up and down their backs. He leans over to you and you can't help but kiss him once and then kiss just below his eyes where the tears had just been.
“We love you so much and you're the best daddy to our monsters. Next time we prank you, we'll make sure not to be so mean because we do love you.”
“Or you could not prank me again.”
“You're very cute my handsome hubby, but that's not going to happen.”
“Thought I'd try. And I love you three too. You're my entire world!”
“Love you daddy.”
“Luh u dada.”
Michael stands up holding your kiddos and sets them back down onto their chairs and then sits down in a chair between them. Your husband just stares at you expectantly.
“Come on gorgeous, we've got breakfast to eat before these monsters have daycare and we have work.”
Three: Your older brother Jack, the annoying shit that he is, decided to send you flowers for your birthday which is tomorrow but they showed up at work today. Granted that's very sweet of him to do, but the note said Happy Birthday sis, please prank your husband for me, he's getting on my nerves. Since he asked so nicely, you might as well do it.
You take a photo of the flowers, sans the card, and send the photo to Mikey.
To Hubby:
Thank you for the flowers. They're beautiful!
From Hubby:
Sweetheart, I didn't send you flowers. Your birthday present is home with me and the kids all ready for you for our family day off tomorrow.
To Hubby:
Oh I thought they were from you. The card said Happy Birthday gorgeous, may these flowers bring a smile to your face like you bring one to mine everyday. I love you!
From Hubby:
THROW THEM AWAY! I don't know who thinks they can make moves on my wife, but they're going to regret it.
You started chuckling and Dana looked at you from where she's standing near you and you mouth prank. She just nodded her head and gave you a thumbs up. You'll let her in on all of the details later.
To Hubby:
I'm not throwing these away. They're beautiful and smell really nice.
From Hubby:
If you love me, you'll throw them away. I will buy you new ones to make up for it. I promise.
To Hubby:
Again, I'm not throwing these away, but I do love you.
From Hubby:
Apparently not as much as you love your secret fucking admirer.
You had to bite your lip to keep from busting out laughing and drawing more attention to yourself.
To Hubby:
Calm down my handsome giant. They're from my brother. The card didn't actually say that. It told me Happy Birthday and to prank you because you've been annoying him.
From Hubby:
I'm gonna send our kids to take his prosthetic leg and beat him up with it.
From: Jacky
The picture your husband just sent me of him flipping me off and promising to have the little monsters beat me up made it so worth the $$.
To Hubby:
You'll do no such thing. You love him like a brother even though he's my brother.
To Jacky:
And here I thought it was because you loved me and cared about my birthday. I guess I'll have to go cry.
From Hubby:
Unfortunately.
From Jacky:
I do love you. You're my annoying baby sister. I'll see you guys tomorrow. Don't work too hard today.
Four: Another day and another prank that you can involve your kiddos in. This time they have to tell you to shut up in front of their daddy and you have no clue how Michael's going to react because they are only almost 5 and then 2 years old.
You both had today off so Michael was doing some work around your house and you had taken your kiddos with you to the grocery store, which set the scene up perfectly for when you got home.
Stevie and Maddox both walked into your house with huge pouts on their faces and they were stomping their little feet. You had to try not to laugh because that would ruin your prank. Michael looked at them and then looked at you with a confused stare. You just shrugged at Robby.
“They didn't want to behave at the store so they don't get any ice cream or candy.”
“Oh well that makes sense.”
“Shut up mommy!”
“Shud uhp mama.”
“Excuse me?!”
“Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!”
“We say shud uhp mama!”
Damn your daughter is way too good of an actress. She must be spending too much time with her Uncle Jacky. Maddox is just too cute and you can't take him seriously. Michael turned his head to your children and he was pissed.
“Stevie James Robinavitch! Maddox Anthony Robinavitch! Get your butts over here right this minute!”
They hung their heads and walked over to where their daddy was sitting on the couch.
“Look at me my little loves.”
The kiddos raised their heads to look at Michael.
“Why did you two just tell your mama to shut up?! You don't ever tell your mama to shut up. She's the best mommy around and loves you two to death. Do you know how upset it makes me to hear you say those hurtful words to your mommy?”
“She won't give us candy or ice cream!”
“We not bad!”
“Are you two even listening to me? You need to apologize to your mama and you won't be having any kind of sugary treat for a week. After you're done apologizing to your mommy, you're going to sit here on the floor and think about why what you did was wrong and why we'll never say those words again.”
You shut the camera off because the prank is over. Your husband seriously is the sweetest man alive and you have no idea how you all got so lucky to have him. You whistled at your little monsters and they got up and ran to you. It was like flipping a switch. You handed them each a cookie and they were back to being their smiley happy selves. Michael looked at you three in confusion.
“Darling why are they eating a cookie? They should be apologizing to you. What they said was not okay.”
“It was just a prank Mikey. They were very well behaved at the store and our daughter is getting to be way too good of an actress. Plus if they actually had meant it, I wouldn't have given them cookies or been so level headed. However the way you handled it… ooh honey when they go to bed later, I'll show you how much I appreciate you.”
Your husband just blushes and your kids are too busy munching on their cookie to pay attention to what you're saying to their daddy.
“Well I'm glad they were good for you. And if they ever mean it, they'll get worse than a threat of a week without sugary treats. You're the best mommy and they need to know that and appreciate you for all that you do for us.”
“Fuck I love you Mikey.”
“I love you too sweetheart and remember little ears.”
“They've heard us say worse, heard our pitt family say worse things, and have heard worse on the TV. They'll be okay.”
“You make a good point. So do I get a cookie too?”
“Yeah when they go to bed.”
“You'll be the death of me gorgeous. Damn!”
You just smiled and pulled him into a kiss. Then you two sat down with your kiddos as they finished their cookies.
Five: This next TikTok trend you want to do to Robby hurts your own feelings, so you can't personally do it or you'll try very hard not to do it, but your kids certainly can because they're little monsters.
You got your kids up and ready for their play date with Dana's daughter. Okay so it was free babysitting, but that's not the point. Michael's still laying in bed since you're the one who's going to run the kids to Dana's place.
Nix walked into your bedroom holding Dox's hand. You smiled at them because they know they're cute and that it gets them out of trouble.
“Mommy! We're ready to go!!”
“Yeah mama! Park!”
“Yes I know you're gonna go to the park with your big cousin while daddy and I get some stuff done around the house today.”
“Kiddos you have so much fun today. I'll pick you up from Auntie Dana's unless she's going to drop you off.”
“Otay dada.”
“Okay daddy.”
“Alright babe. I'm gonna take the kiddos. I'll see you in like 30. You get some more sleep.”
“I will. I'll see you soon.”
“Let's go kiddos. Out to the car!”
Stevie and Maddox run out of your bedroom and down the hallway. You get up off your bed and walk out of your bedroom. Maybe your husband is too tired to realize none of you told him that you love him or gave him a goodbye kiss.
You get the kids strapped in their car seats and climb into the driver's seat. You open the garage door and turn the car on. You back out of the garage, and start backing up down the driveway, when you see your husband run out of the front door to stop you before you can leave the driveway. You put the car in park and unlock the doors.
Michael opens the back passenger door where Maddox is sitting in his carseat. He leans in and gives your son a hug and a kiss to his forehead.
“I love you little man.”
Maddox looks at you through his mirror and you nod your head. He smiles and turns to his daddy and kisses his daddy's bearded cheek.
“I luh u dada.”
Michael smiles and closes the back passenger side door and moves to the back driver's side door and opens it so he can see Stevie. Michael hugs Nix and she hugs her daddy back. He gives her a forehead kiss.
“I love you my little rockstar.”
“I love you too daddy.”
She smiles and gives her daddy a kiss to his bearded cheek too. Then Michael closes the backseat driver's side door and comes to your door. You open it for your husband.
“You were really going to leave and take our kiddos and none of you were going to give me a kiss or tell me you love me. That's very rude.”
“Handsome you were barely awake, so I didn't even think about it. I'm sorry.”
He leans in and kisses you. It's a long kiss too and you don't mind in the slightest.
“I forgive you gorgeous. Now I love you so much. Hurry back. Also my little monsters, have fun with Auntie Dana!”
“I love you too Mikey. Now go lay in bed. I'll be back soon.”
He sneaks one more kiss before closing the driver's door. He stands at the top of the driveway and waves at you guys as you drive away. Seriously how did you land this sweet giant of a man?!
Six: Jack wanted to babysit tonight on his night off because he's missed his sidekicks. Those were his exact words and you had no qualms about letting your kiddos have a sleepover with Uncle Jacky. Besides there's one last TikTok trend you want to try on your husband and it would be better if the kiddos weren't home when you did it.
Michael was leaning up against the kitchen counter looking handsome as ever in his gray sweatpants. You knew it was the perfect time to enact your plan. You walk up to him and lean all up in his space and kiss his neck.
“Well hello to you to sweetheart.”
“Can we take a cute video to send to the kiddos to tell them goodnight before we go to bed and then I just want a cute couples video if that's okay?”
“Yeah of course darling.”
You hand Michael your phone since he's taller. You guys record a video for your kiddos and send that off to your brother. Then it's time for the video you've been waiting for.
“Okay Mikey, you press record again and then I'll come hug you and you'll get us both in it.”
“Sounds good babe.”
You wait until Michael hits record and then you move. You do hug him and lean up for a kiss.
“You wearing boxers honey?”
“Yeah why?”
Then you pants him and take off running away laughing. Robby's left stunned and scrambling. Michael tries to stop the video and chase after you at the same time but he can't until he gets his pants up. He manages to stop the video and get his pants pulled back up. Then he's chasing after you. You can't help but keep laughing and watch as Michael finally catches up to you in your bedroom.
“Now that was just mean.”
“It's too bad you weren't wearing boxers because I wouldn't have run off, I'd have just dropped to my knees.”
“Fuck sweetheart, you're going to be the death of me.”
“Well then what a way to go out honey.”
“You're so lucky I love you!”
“I love you too handsome. Now come get on this bed and take advantage of having a child free home for the night.”
“Yes ma'am Mrs. Robinavitch.”
