Although I was there to shoot a different (even rarer) guitar, I couldn't resist a few available light snapshots of other guitars in this excellent collection. Plus I have a soft spot for all things '68. 😉

In 2010, Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" ranked "Wichita Lineman" at #195. It has been referred to as "the first existential country song". British music journalist Stuart Maconie called it "the greatest pop song ever composed". The BBC referred to it as "one of those rare songs that seems somehow to exist in a world of its own – not just timeless but ultimately outside of modern music". In 2020, "Wichita Lineman" was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Rick Nelson - You Just Can't Quit (1966)
In 1966 Rick Nelson recorded an Bright Lights & Country Music LP, a relatively straight country album. It's mostly covers but here's one of the highlights, which he wrote himself. That guitar lick is pretty great - not sure if it's James Burton or Glen Campbell playing. Clarence White was also on the session.
